Cuidado!! Minha amiga foi roubada nesse lugar, eles fazem uma aglomeração e quando você consegue sair já levaram suas coisas, muito triste!!

Un monde à part. Tout se vend dans une effervescence incroyable...pour se dépayser ou et pour trouver la meilleure affaire !!!
Rester vigilant sur les poches et sacs .....mais c'est une très belle ambiance que nous avons abordé en qualité de touristes

Not for tourists. As I am 20cm taller than the rest of the people at the market I was targeted and just after being one minute I was surrounded by four people who tried to take my wallet and phone.
Luckily I managed to scape the situation unharmed and with all my belongings.

La vista desde el teleférico del mercado es impactante al ver el tamaño del mismo. Son cientos de puestos en donde venden de todo lo que puedas imaginar. En mi tierra lo llamamos "Mercado de las pulgas" debido a la variedad de productos ofrecidos, tanto nuevos como usados. Ropa, repuestos para vehículos, animales vivos, zapatos, ferretería, cauchos (llantas), juguetes, accesorios para celulares, electrónica y un sinfin de productos. Hay varios puestos de comida (no muy agradables para mi gusto y eso que he comido en muchísimos mercados) y los olores son muy fuertes. Podrás observar a la mayoría de las personas comiendo con las manos y es un poco insalubre. Debes andar con mucho cuidado con tus pertenencias ya que al ser un mercado concurrido, los amigos de lo ajeno están al acecho de los turistas que se descuidan. El mercado sólo se hace los jueves y domingos.

ok...just be careful...i am pretty street smart but I got straight on targeted when i was up there. there arent a lot of tourists in the area right now and even if there were i stand out like a, well tall person...
spit on a phone was stolen....
the market is huge and all but you got to be careful...i suggest not bringing anything with you.

DAS Highlight unserer Bolivien Reise wenn man überfüllte Märkte so wie wir liebt. Hier gibt es ALLES vom Ei bis zum LKW zu kaufen 😉 jeden Sonntag!!! Ein MUSS wenn man in La Paz ist... Achtung vor Taschendieben. Definitiv keine Taschen mitnehmen!!!

Jeden Donnerstag und Sonntag findet in der über La Paz gelegenen Höhen-Stadt El Alto ein riiiiiesiger Open-Air-Billig-Markt statt > Start ist spätestens um 10 Uhr. Schon an der Teleferico-Estación "16 de Julio" geht es eindrucksvoll los. Der Markt bietet auf mehreren Quadrat-Kilometern "fast alles", z.B. gebrauchte Autos und entsprechende Teile/Zubehör, unglaublich viele Second Hand- und China-Klamotten, Schuhe, überall Essen (insbesondere frittiert), Elektroteile-Schrott, Uralt-Handys, Coca-Blätter, Ersatzteile jeglicher Art, Werkzeuge, SIM-Karten, Fahrräder, Billig-Steppjacken (aber erstaunlicherweise keine Alpaka-Pullis), lebendes Geflügel, junge Hunde, Meerschweinchen (lebend und gebraten!) >> und nützlicherweise auch reichlich Toiletten (1 BOB Eintritt). Mir brannten nach 3 Stunden die Augen, vor lauter Reizüberflutung > oder waren es die über 4.000 Meter Höhe? Gut orientieren kann man sich in dem Getümmel an der über der Hauptstraße schwebenden Seilbahn, die einen ggf. auch wieder Richtung "Estatión Central" (und über das Cementario hinweg) hinunter nach La Paz bringt. Mein Fazit: Einmal im Leben reicht ... auch wenn ich es dort nicht - wie oft beschrieben - gefährlich fand.

This market is huge and hard to navigate if you are looking for something specific but don’t know the layout. Basically similar stores are lined up together. We went and was “stuck” in a part of the market that specialized in car and other motor parts; there was just a sea of these vendors. We then wandered to another part where there was a sea of shoe /sneaker vendors. But nothing that a typical tourist would be interested in. We left after about an hour of walking around aimlessly. Quite interesting from a people watching perspective but not so much for actual shopping. If you have a knowledgeable local who can guide you, you would probably have a better time.
