Popped in as this pub was next to our accommodation and we were really impressed! The pub was nicely thriving with locals who all welcomed us with smiles and the food surpassed our expectations. Steak and ale pie crammed with meat, homemade lasagne and a good selection of beers in a nicely decorated pub.

After a long day and journey we found this pub along a main road. As we all walked in the locals just stared and whispered amongst themselves, very adult like! We were given menus and asked for our order fairly quickly. The food arrived it was okay but you could tell a lot had just been re heated. I was cautious due to being heavily pregnant. It was edible and unsure if we would return again.

The barmaid/waitress was so lovely & friendly that I really wanted the food to be good, despite the smell of stale fat & complete lack of customers. Alas it wasn’t. The best thing was the chips, homemade, but even some of those were a bit raw. With other such fabulous eateries in the area they really need to up their game. Drinks were good value.

Black chips, dry peas but gammon ok.
Salmon tasteless with watery sauce, mange tout stringy and broad beans could not get a fork in, potatoes ok

Called in as we drove past. The carpets smelled and the loos we found out later were very grubby. the cous cous was very dry and the rest of the meals were a disappointment

Called for Sunday lunch. Loads of parking at rear. Greeted by the most charming dog. She is a tourism asset. We were given the choice of where to sit by a charming and friendly young lady. She was polite and professional. The Landlord was a jolly man and clearly took an interest in his customers experience. Food was good but I could have done with a few more spuds. Having said that ,I observed later that there were three sizes of meal and I had chosen the middle size. Excellent pudding and friendly company. A welcome winter visit must be a great summer experience . Hotel is approximate to the moorland which makes it good for walking or cycling. Shall certainly return.

Easy to find, easy to park. Friendly welcome. Good food, varied menu, wine list good, service was efficient, will certainly go again.

We had a very nice meal there today at a very good price.one had vegetarian lasagne,one had beef ale pie and 2 had chicken and ribs.The service was quick and the staff were very pleasant

We had a poor meal at the Severn Arms a while ago so were delighted to hear the old owners had returned and to read good reviews here and set off eagerly.
Sadly we found the garlic mushrooms not to die for and the fishcakes well-cooked but tasteless.
The much-looked-forward-to steaks were mediocre and the veggie pasta over-microwaved, though the steak and ale pie and gammon were well-received.
Peas as the only veg on the menu is not trying very hard

Stopped off for a quick meal with the family, kids meals were huge, 2 full size sausages and a adult size chips. Sadly the sausages were very cheap quality and the chips not particularly nice. Same could be said for the burgers. Ketchup the worst I've ever tasted.
All 4 of us had a dodgy tummy the next day.
