I was there at twenty minutes to five on the twenty-second of November, and it was getting dark already. At that time of year the banks beneath the trees were buried with great drifts of golden leaves in heaps everywhere. This was great fun, and I hope nobody came to clear them all away. Lamps here and there among the trees set the yellow leaves still on the trees ablaze with light.
The four-lane main road outside is noisy with traffic. Once I’d walked a few yards into Legg Park a new sound began to compete with that din; birds. The place may be some kind of roost, it was filled up with bird calls. You never could get completely away from the rush of cars, but our feathered friends provided a distracting chorus.
A sign on the gate says the opening hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday to Sunday 8am to 6pm. Free entry. There’s no parking out on the main road, but out the back way there’s quiet roads. Nearby are huge, free car parks for the Omniplex cinema and Sainsbury’s.

It's basically just a children's park with a playground. We just walked through it on our day in Carrickfergus. Very Green and needs a little refurbishment.

This is a small play park with fairly good facilities but it really could do with a freshen up. You need to keep a careful eye on the children as the gate always stays open!

Lovely park great for picnics in the summer, play area for children with benches for parents to sit and watch the children have fun! Opposite McDonalds so handy for a treat when its time to go

It's a nice park and is maintained, but if you have young active children, the Marine Park further up past the castle is a better bet. There are always teenagers sitting on the swings and my impressionable pre-teens do watch their behaviours. Also, there are too many hedges and bushes where a more adventurous toddler might hide in!

A park built around a memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Charles Legg (he died in WWI from injuries after falling from his horse.) The park is small, with avenues of trees that give the different paths and areas some privacy. There's the monument here, a bench there, a kids playground around another corner. Its a green oasis just off the main road, south of Sainsbury's and McDonald's.
