A natural wonder that must be seen if you're in Northern Ireland! There's also people on site to make sure everyone is being safe. I was part of an audio tour group, which really added to the experience, they explained everything well and entertainingly. The centre on site is interesting as well.

Another one in the Coastal Causeway Route.
This was probably the main reason for us coming to Northern Ireland and it didn't dissapoint. The visitors centre is interesting to look around ahead of going to see the Causeway.
The walk down takes around 20 minutes (you can get the attraction bus down for £1... we walked down and got the bus back up.
We went later in the evening, around 1530 and it wasn't too crowded, so good opportunities for pictures.
Good facilities - car parking, toilets, gift ship, cafe etc.
You cannot miss this attraction when coming to Northern Ireland.

Seeing Giant's Causeway was awesome! I have wanted to see this for years. Unfortunately, my age did not allow me to walk on the rocks. The walk down to the rocks was breathtaking. It was quite a downhill walk and was extremely windy. I elected to ride the bus on the way up for a small charge. This is Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I have wanted to visit The Causeway for years. Having read stories to my granddaughter about Finn McCool I wanted to see where he lived!!
The weather was bitterly cold the day we visited with snow around the hills as we approached.
We were part of a coach tour which gave us entry to the Visitor Centre and the use of a guided walk down (it is quite a way if you have mobility problems) or an audio guide.
We chose the audio guide, but as we had to take the bus each way, (£1 each way per person) it wasn’t possible to line up the information given as we had passed all the points being described before hearing about them.
The Visitor Centre is an atmosphere free zone. There are displays all around, but for the life of me I can’t see the point in paying £13.50 to look around a shop and some info boards, although the guided tours come with the entry fee.
It is possible to pay for the parking and make your own way down (on foot or bus).
The Causeway is a must if you are in Northern Ireland (or Southern, come to that as there are trips from Dublin).
The weather didn’t spoil our day as this is an almost unique landscape, there being similar stones in Scotland, we were told.

Visited March 2023. It was very rainy/wet. For me it was too dangerous to go too far out on the really cool hexagonal stones. It was an accident waiting to happen for me. During rainy season wear waterproof boots/pants. People wearing running shoes in march regretted that decision.
I decided to take to walk the road down, but hike the long way back up. I consider myself fit, and was sore the next day!
For those that aren’t physically capable of walking up/down they have a shuttle that you can take. I believe it costs a euro…and you MUST have cash.
The hike back up was amazing. The Causeway is very impressive. I would love to visit during summer months.
A restaurant and bar are located on the property as well.

Lovely afternoon exploring the causeway and area.
We walked down the hill to it but caught the bus back up, bus is £2. The gift shop is really nice got a few presents there.
Be aware that you can walk down to the causeway without having to pay the £13.50 to visit, you only have to pay this if you want to go in the visitors centre. Parking only is £10.

Fantastic views and beautiful scenery. We didnt decided to pay for the visitor experience and parked at the causeway car park for £10. The walk to the stones is filled with fantastic views and scenery and there is also a shuttle bus available if you don't want to walk too far. The only disappointing thing is you need a visitor experience ticket to just look in the shop.

If you like walking around, you can surely spend half a day at this place without even noticing. Mostly taking the pictures of the formatted rocks will be the most time consuming and fun activity.
The biggest plus for me was the audio guide that can be borrowed at the visitor's center and where you can listen to everything in very convenient and entertaining way without a need to read usually boring information tables.
The information center at the place offers information about the past of Giant's Causeway, stories that were passes along, a video projection of the most famous one from them all, the people that were bringing the tourists to the place, and the current people that are taking care of it or making research for whatever scientific purpose. This place also contains café and then souvenir shop.
I strongly recommend to buy the tickets in advance. Otherwise you will be redirected to a line of the cars where staff helps visitors with ticket buying by letting tourists scan QR code with URL for ticket purchase. So in the end the tourists do it by themselves anyway, but they will kill some time by trying to figure out how and why does ticket purchasing work as it does.
A pro tip, even though Ireland is windy and the weather is mostly clouded, bring sunscreen lotion with you. Despite not having that hot weather, my arms and neck was a bit sun-burnt after few hours spend under very pleasant and not that strong sun.

I refer to the National Trust Exhibition and Cafe which is out of character to the surrounding wonderful natural beauty - Cafe awful with dry uninteresting sandwiches - the bacon baps we were told finishing at 10.30 - Crazy! - Our advice is to rip out all the hi-tech and have a place that relates to the surrounding area!

How far is train station to giant causeway

I went by car but think there maybe one in nearby Bushmills. From Bushmills there is a shuttle toy-train to Giants Causeway. Backpackers in my hotel had arrived by train.

The bus will get you to the site, but walking from the bus will be challenging. I suggest you walk only on the road, or stay on the bus.

Bad legs can't walk that far. Take the bus and you will have a much better time.

I’m thinking of coming to have a look at Northern Ireland in the spring of 2022 I know that I can travel from Carrickfergus where I will be staying to the Giants Causeway via the motorways inland , but my question is ; is it worth going up the A2 coastal route and how long would that add to the journey to the Causeway? I’m a slightly disabled guy so I don’t know if that makes any difference , or if I’ll need additional accommodation if I go this way. Thank you

Hi, if you don’t intend on visiting the visitor centre do you still need to pre book your visit? Also, is there a separate car park you can use if you haven’t pre booked for the visitor centre? Thank you!

There is no need to go to the interpretative centre, it is the causeway itself that is important. The rest is just a money making exercise.
I been to the giant's causeway before. But this time can we just walk down without paying into the visitor centre? And if so can we just toilets and tbe coffee shop without paying?

Yes you are free to walk down and view everything that would be on the paid tour. The facilities are open to everyone as far as I know
