Accessible from the main road, with its own car park, or by walking along the east strand.
The small car park gets busy, so don’t depend on it.
Great spot for a bit of scrambling/climbing.

We probably came on the wrong day as it was difficult to get parked at the very bottom car park next to the beach as it was so busy . There are other car parks as you head down the road which like most roads leading down to the sea in Antrim are all very steep and winding . The one we parked in actually had great views of royal portrush golf course where we watched a poor golfer search for their lost ball . Well worth a visit just be prepared for the drive up and down which to be fair is not as bad as the one at Ballintoy harbour .

One of the top beach in Ireland with no doubt. View is amazing. Perfect place for fantastic photography. Long sandy beach with big waves.

Brilliant fishing trip this morning onboard the Causeway Lass skippered by Kelly. A load of mackerel caught I took maybe 40.
Kelly took as to 4 spots but the final one just beyond The Skerries was exceptional.
Highly recommend.

Visited on Saturday afternoon around 3/4pm. Still lots of space for people to sit and everyone naturally distanced themselves! Super clean and lifeguards were attentive and easy to get in touch with. Can't wait to go back again.

What a beach , even on a blustery drizzly day it’s so good to go here. Great parking , toilets , big sand dunes you can slide down and clean open beach , brilliant for kids . Lifeguard there too . Dogs allowed too

Happened across this beautiful beach after seeing some pics on Instagram. I was shocking how stunning this beach is how clean it is and how exotic the beach looks, could easily be abroad just beautiful with people out surfing etc. The car parking is perfect and public toilets available with plenty bins. Just beautiful

This is a stunning beach plentiful sand, very expansive. Very busy beach with lots going on.

This is a beautiful beach and I think the best in Northern Ireland with Murlough beach and downhill beach close behind in the beach stakes. Portrush is a nice little seaside town too. We enjoyed Bob and Berts breakfast here too

As pretty a beach as you will see anywhere.
This beach starts pretty much in Portrush, I think as the East Strand beach, and then just keeps going for a good long way, maybe 2 miles, and at the other end it is known as the Whiterocks beach, presumably because there are a few white rocks dotted amongst all the sand!
Lots to do here
- great big sandy beach with a long slow shelf for swimming - but it is on the North Atlantic, so you will be cold unless you are wearing a wetsuit!
- often get good surf for bodyboarding or surfing
- massive dunes that are great fun to slide down if you have a sled (or a plastic bottomed bodyboard)
- behind the beach is a golf course regularly rated among the worlds best - Royal Portrush - which you can see from the top of the big dunes
- caves and waterfalls at the very far end (be careful of the tide!)
- good parking unless in the height of summer when very busy
- a few showers
- toilets
- lifeguards
- never seen any food here so be aware of that

Can you camp on the beach?

To my knowledge, the answer is no. There were a number of people visiting the beach with their dogs, enjoying the surf (in wet-suits) and there was a wedding party taking photos. I believe the tide range is a factor. There are camping grounds along the Giants Causeway Coast road. That information is probably available from the Irish Tourist Board.
