Mary really shaped our break in Portrush with helpful advice and local information, so pleased we called in. A really friendly and welcoming lady, thank you.

Portrush I love it, from I was 5 I've gone every summer, I've taken my kids and now my grandkid.
I was visiting the town on the 1st of August 2022 when my wife and son in law were issued a fine for littering (cigarette butt in the dunluce carpark).
Like good citizens they handed over the details to the "litter officer"
When I returned to the car I found my wife and son in law badly shaken by this interaction.
I asked them who he was and they pointed him out in the carpark,my son in law said "that homeless guy" I approached him and asked to see his council identification, he showed it for about 1 second before putting it away, again I asked for it but he refused to show it.
He then walked away, so I started to think this was some sort of scam and emailed the council with the time and date of the incident.
The next day I received a very prompt reply from the council.
I asked if they could confirm that a council employee was actually working in the carkpark at the time and date I said.
Indeed it was a "council worker" or actually a person working on behalf of the council, from a company called W. I. S. E (Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement).
Basically they are litter wardens, but there not concerned with litter, it's just the fines.
How's this for a business model.
They approach the council and offer to "police" the litter problem, this they do for free.
"How do they get paid?" you my ask.
Well the £80 fine they issue is broke down basically like this, 90% goes to the company and 10% to the council.
It's a win, win.
The council gets free litter wardens and it even makes 10% on each fine.
Brilliant isn't it.
I've no argument about the littering it's about the way it's handled by these so called litter wardens.
There uniform is shoddy at best, it not like they wear hi vis vests with "LITTER ENFORCEMENT"
They hang around carparks waiting to "pounce", that's the best way I can describe it.
They don't give you the opportunity to pick the item up, after informing you that you've committed an offence.
Most people would feel it "fair and proportionate" if the litter warden asked you to pick the litter up, if you
refused then you get a fine.
But that doesn't get the money off you does it, if they were so concerned with the environment then they should pick it up and issue you with a fine.
The council officer I spoke to on the phone apologised for the way my family were treated.
No one should be left badly shaken after an
encounter with any person who is working on behalf of the council.
So ironically the litter is left on the ground, the litter enforcement officer let's it lie there, but the council got 10% of the fine, so they can play another council worker to pick up the litter with that money.
Still love Portrush, but having my family badly skaken by this hasn't helped.

We visited this centre multiple times during our visit. The lovely lady working in the centre was very informative, courteous and helpful. Her knowledge of the local area and surrounds was fantastic. Thank you for all the help and advice you provided. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

I visited here on the 25th July and the staff could not have been more helpful. Their advice enhanced my holiday and Zimhwd a fantastic stay in Portrush.

Called in to gather up-to-date information and Jan was super helpful. Learnt a lot about local activities and events that I had not found in social media. Highly recommend any visitor calls in to get full local info.

ポートラッシュ駅を出てから左に行き、徒歩２分くらいのところこの観光案内所があります。レンガ造りで目立つ建物の中にあります。ジャイアント・コーズウェイなどの周辺の観光スポットのパンフレットや地図がもらえました。ポートラッシュに行ったら、まずここに立ち寄るといいと思います。

Toilets in Portrush are absolutely disgusting, my 8 year old daughter had broken her ankle and was in plaster and I went with her to the toilet. The toilets were disgusting the floors were saturated in urine. no toilet roll. I could not let her in. There should be a toilet attendant on duty at all times and they would never get into such a state. people who really need to use the toilet I'm sure wouldn't mind paying a small amount to use and this would help keeping them maintained to a higher standard. Looking forward to hear a response.

Thank you for your enquiry.
With regards to public transport, the local bus service (140) between Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart will operate at a 20 minute frequency and at a 10 minute frequency during mid-morning/early evening. Special Coach Services to travel direct to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open from Belfast and other cities and towns across NI will operate from 5-9 July – further details can be found on the Translink website.
Rail Services will operate an hourly timetable to Coleraine from
Derry-Londonderry and Belfast. Train capacity will be enhanced from 5-9 July
and some additional early morning and late night services will operate. Free
shuttle bus services will connect with the arrival and departure of each train
to transport you directly between Coleraine Bus & Train station and the event.
