Cute statue with an interesting back story. We enjoy a nice sunset walk across the bridge to view the statue in this quiet town.

It’s on the ring of kerry. Have to stop for a picture. Truely unique custom and story. One of the last real Irish festivals and statue is a great representation of it

Our tour guide told us all about King Puck on the minutes leading up to our arrival at the statue. It's on the way to Dingle Peninsula from Killarney. We would have missed it had he not mentioned it. And I'm sure each tour guide has their own version of the story. We might have to come back for the festival in August.

Отсюда начинается симпатичный городок, в котором проходит всемирно известная «Ярмарка шайб». Одна из легенд ярмарки отдает дань уважения козлу, который отбился от своего стада и предупредил жителей города о наступающей армии Оливера Кромвеля в 17 веке. Скульптура козла была установлена в 2001 году. Установлена рядом с кольцевой развязкой, но рядом нет парковки.

It seems that every village in Ireland has a prominent statue of a beloved hometown hero, but this is the only goat I know of. For some background, Cromwell’s forces were heading for Killorglin when they spooked a herd of goats. One billy goat ran into the town and, when it arrived, tired and agitated, the people of Killorglin realized that something was wrong. They fortified the town against the attackers, and the day was saved. The Puck Fair was reportedly established to honor of the goat and is the oldest festival in Ireland. That not being enough, Killorglin erected a life-sized bronze billy goat statue. A little odd, but kind of cool. A nice change from sports figures!

Questa statua che si trova sul lungofiume, nei pressi del ponte, rappresenta la principale attrattiva del piccolo centro abitato di Killorglin. Il monumento è dedicato al Re caprone che secondo un’antica leggenda con il suo comportamento aveva allertato gli abitanti del villaggio, impedendo così che lo stesso venisse saccheggiato. Sempre in relazione a questa leggenda, ogni anno nel mese di agosto, qui si tiene una delle fiere più antiche d’Irlanda.

Sono stato a Killorglin per qualche a cavallo della festività di San Patrizio. Si tratta di un piccolo villaggio lungo il fiume Laune nella verde e allegra provincia irlandese, ottima base di partenza per escursioni nel bellissimo Kerry. Qui domina il re Puck, una capra che da il benvenuto sul ponte all'ingresso del villaggio.

This is a statue of a goat by the side of the road as you enter the town. Once a year is the Puck Fair. Difficult to park near the statue.
