The sand, water and amenities were just perfect! Our family and friends had a perfect beach day and we will 100% continue to go there every summer.

Love Grand Beach! Spent summers there in the late 50’s and early 60’s!
It was so cool! The most beautiful Beach…..white sand for miles! I was young, but my memories are of the best Beach ever!

Le meilleur temps de l'année, j'imagine, pour profiter de la nature, de ses couleurs. Grand espace, beau sentier, et super plage.

There are two sections of the beach. The west beach is more popular as there are shops and food. The east beach is less popular and has a dog beach. The sand is very fine and nice. The lake is so wide it looks like you are at the ocean. This beach is only about an hour drive north of Winnipeg.

Go back 200 years, and it must have been astonishingly beautiful, especially the wonderfully, soft, white sand. But now the destruction from mankind fills me with grief whenever I go there. The water is thick with algea, caused by pollution, so is not safe for swimming, although they claim it is, except when warnings are posted.
There are also millions of zebra mussels in the water, and garbage is every where, in the sand and elsewhere.
For a few days every year, usually in July, there is very thick carpet of dead and dying fish fies all over absolutely everything, which is just disgusting. On the beach, the buildings, cars, and sidewalks. On the pier, and the benches. Everywhere! It takes days for the local businesses to shovel them off of their doorways etc. They have to literally use a snow plow to remove them from the roads!
As well, most of southern Manitoba has a lot of wood ticks for a period every summer. I'm not sure if this is part of the area plagued with them or not. I'm not too bothered by mosquitos, but these four horrors of nature are enough to keep me away!
And then there are the people. Thousands of them, everywhere. The beach is just jammed with people during the height of summer. It's difficult to walk on the beach. This is not relaxing, and kids are not safe unless watched like a hawk.
Prices for food and souvenirs are high, and lineups are common. The entire southern end of Lake Winnipeg is built up with homes, cottages, hotels, and services for all of the people. All of the beauty that was once there is gone now, and it's the last place I would spend my precious holiday time.

Manitobans should be ashamed. Daily, a backhoe fills trucks (many) with zebra mussels. The smell of human waste in the air. Hundreds of people choosing to swim in the dog beach area because it’s actually further away and cleaner than the main beaches. I cannot believe there are not warnings. This cannot be safe.

Pas une mauvaise idée de venir en octobre pour profiter de l'espace, du petit sentier, et des couleurs. On le refera.

I love visiting seasonal tourist spots on the off season. My visit was during grey, ten degree, sometimes rainly, and very windy day.
That said, during a pandemic, this left me able to visit anything I wanted to with a great deal of of social distance, unobstructed photos, and clear trails.
A very beautiful area that's very popular among Manitobans for a good reason. If you're going for the day, or staying the night, you'll enjoy a beautiful area of the province that often does not feel like Manitoba at all.
Go take a day trip in the off season, you might love it.

We came on during the weekend of free entry park, and camped for 3 days. We always do that. The campground was very well maintain, trees everywhere, in my opinion the spots towards the north are the best. 2 adults 1 toddler, we hiked the Ancient Beach Trail, it's a good hike even with kids. On the first night a group of people were making and incredible amount of noise and Park Rangers had to be called. Next morning the group of people where gone. We are glad we had peaceful nights after that.
I hike the TCT section from Grand Beach in Grand Marais to the park campground. An average of an hour if you walk slow. Family of dear strolling around the campground, lots of frogs and Moskitos at times. Is a perfect spot for families with kids and there are close play structures.

We visited the beach the second week of September and loved it. Of course it was on/off sprinkle showers every 30 minutes, but the swimmers were having a great time. I bet summer is crowded. We are still planning to go back late this August.
