Stunning countryside, lots of harriers , swallow and lapwings , butterfly .. we arrived on a very hot day but the swallows worked tirelessly back and forth to the nest under the eaves of the bird hide

A birders paradise in autumn, thousands of barnacle geese, good hides plus woodland walks. A visitors centre , plus toilets! Lots of information about the work being done for wildlife.

Good hides with plenty of viewing areas. Pleasant walks which are relatively level and easy. We seen a couple of birds we had to look up. Lovely area. Unmanned visitor centre with lots of information. You can leave a donation here.

This RSPB reserve is worth visiting, as although the visitor centre was closed we visited both hides which had really good information in them and superb views of the many birds.

Our visit was when the visitor centre was closed due the pandemic. That said, the Hides were open and a well thought out one way system is in place to get round the Reserve. We were rewarded on our visit with thousands of Barnacle Geese. I have never seen anything like it when they all decide to take off. A spectacular sight and a noisy one too!

Just a beautiful area to visit. Goes without saying if you have a passing interest in birds this is where they are all hanging out .. the hides were not open due to COVID restrictions but didn’t matter.. there is a very clear one way system in place. The place is crazy noisy with bird life which was exciting. Short and easy walk through some lovely woodland. Watch for midges.

We visited during covid. Good arrangements were in place with limits on numbers and a one-way system. The hides, visitors centre and toilets were not available. (That seemed a bit excessive)
The signed route goes through the woods and then returns back over a moorland area. Very pleasant. Quite a number of birds around but most especially a Golden Eagle

Visited in June and saw a lot of lapwings, also meadow pipets, buzzard, hooded crows, grey wagtails etc. Had a very good walk around the reserve on well maintained paths.
