A small unique geographical place. Worth dropping by if you want to see this canyon walls. It's small place though. The other part of the park by the lake would be a nice place to picnic if you have the time

I am actually surprised there are not many visitors here. This is Chiang Mai's mini version of the Grand Canyon and the rock formations caused by millennia of erosion are spectacular. Equally interesting are the gullies we have to walk through to get to the rock formation and back. It's a short, enjoyable 400m walk, but make sure you park your car at Parking Lot 3 instead of Parking Lot 1 (the main entrance). That will save you walking up several flights of steps on your return.

Firstly there are two things to be considered if you want to visit this geological wonder. Firstly, it is only accessible by car and secondly, it includes a quite steep walk so mobility problems could make it inaccessible.
However, if at all possible make a visit here. The walking distances involved aren’t that great but some of the paths are quite rough so good footwear is recommended. There are also some quite steep steps. I’m not sure what it would be like in wet weather but suspect it could be a little difficult.
Go as early in the day as possible before it gets too hot…it will also be quieter. There is a fee to enter the National park…100 baht for foreigners, 20 Baht for Thais and 30 Baht per vehicle. Car parks are good and there is a cafe situated in the first car park. The path starts for that car park and is a really good and interesting walk with plenty of information boards in Thai and English so it’s certainly worth taking your time. There are splendid views and interesting plants and trees.
The main attraction is the canyon type geological structures which are simply amazing and worth spending time rather than just using them as a selfie shot! The gravel structure and the colours make for some great photos. There are a number of view points and photo opportunities abound.
We were really pleased we found this attraction and would almost certainly visit again.
Very highly recommended.

You’ll need a car to get here .
Then it’s about a 400 metre walk to the main rock formations down and back up about 150 steps .
There is a small cafe next to the car park .
Well worth a trip here - a well laid out trail and quite spectacular rock formations

We stopped here after Doi Inthanon National Park. From the parking lot to the walls, it is a short 400 meters - some upwards, but we took short breaks to catch our breath. The walls are beautiful. Are there beehives near the top of the walls? We did not know to look, so we don’t know. Atthe view point, which we got to by car, you can see over the top of trees and can get a glimpse of the walls from a distance. This was a nice stop.

Transport seemed challenging, so I got a driver to bring me to both Doi Inthanon National Park and Mae Wang National Park within the same day. The entrance fee was 100 baht per person, and 30 baht per vehicle. From carpark 3, it was a 15 to 20 minutes' climb (where you could choose to take the creek trail or walk on the elevated bridges) to reach the canyon. Upon reaching the canyon, there were various platforms for close-up views from different angles. The ranger at the canyon was very enthusiastic about helping visitors take photographs against the backdrop. There was a lack of English panels to explain the natural phenomena, but the canyon looked grand especially during the Golden Hour in the evening. The canyon was tall but did not cover an expansive area, so visitors have to manage their expectations - I enjoyed the view but that may be because it was my first time seeing a canyon.

This is an interesting rock formation , and quiet place to get some nice photos.
It can be hot here , so make sure you take some water with you , and cover up from the sun, where cool , comfy clothes and shoes.
if you go to car park 1 , there are clean toilets here , and a shop selling drinks and food , and also a nice view , but you will need to walk down maybe 100M of stairs , and also walk back up again. ( there are a few stops along the way to sit in the shade and rest )
I would recommend go to car park 1 to buy food/ drinks , and use the toilet , but park at car park 3 , you will be at the bottom of the stairs , and save a lot of hard walking !
After here we went to Grand Canyon to relax and have a swim.

Hi, Do you have to follow the board walk or can you get off and explore? Thank-you.

Pha Chor is composed of various cliffs and natural valley. The attraction is approached from the car park on a higher ground. There are proper steps to climb down to the valley which lead the visitors to the cliffs. Structures enable one to climb to different heights in order to appreciate the surrounding. If you considered the various trails and structures as board walk then the rangers will prefer that visitors stay on the path. However there are various safe areas beyond the path that can be explored.
