I have gone back and forth from Nathorn (Samui) to Donsak on many occasions both with and without a motorcycle. I've never had a problem. They are always on time, the staff has been helpful each time I have a question (the first time I took my motorcycle I had questions that were answered politely and clearly) and the onboard facilities make the ride seem shorter than it is. Overall, the ferry rides are always part of the adventure and merely a time to sit back, relax and enjoy the views and the sea.

Booked ticket from Surat Thani Train Station to Koh Samui using 12GO and selecting the Phantip option. No real issues. Bit chaotic finding the right bus on exiting train station (Phantip reps in black polos could use a sign!). Transfer in van and ferry fine. Came back via Raja Ferry (old rust bucket car ferries pumping black smoke into the sky) - avoid Raja route if possible.

It was our first time at this ferry terminal, and it was just so easy to buy tickets, queue and board. Very well organised.

Très bien . Bonne compagnie, je connaîs celle ci et celle de lompraya. Les deux sont bien . Mieux vaut prendre les billets à l’avance surtout si on prend la voiture sur le bateau .

An amazing experience! With ferry choices being limited from and to Phangan island this ferry is an absolute and positive surprise. The service online is super quick and responsive. The ferry itself it’s such a relieve comparing to other available. It’s refreshed, quite modern with great facilities on board like a super descent shop and amazing foot massage service, the staff is nice everything was great.
The only thing I would make a comment is that there is no information on the Donsak pier so you might wait in the wrong queue and that there are flat screens with a loud sound on in the interior spaces of the ferry, I think that might work for one space and leave the other spaces silent which is usually what people appreciate on a 2.5h trip.
A tip you can’t buy the car ticket online you have to contact the company via Line but then it goes smoothly.

Sehr lange Wartezeiten! Mit 3-5 Stunden rechnen. Fähre läuft im Moment nur alle 2 Stunden (normal stündlich) aus. Personalmangel!

Wir (4 köpfige Familie mit 2 Kleinkinder) sind vom Khao Sok Nationalpark mit dem einem Minivan welches uns unser Hotel gebucht hatte nach Surat Thani gefahren. Die Fahrt war problemlos und wir wechselten nach 30Minuten Pause etwa in einem klimatisierten Bus um. In Surat Thani im Seatran Büro wurden unsere Thaipass und Tickets überprüft und es war alles in Ordnung. Der Bus ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, allerdings dauerte die weitere Fahrt auch nur 1h und ganz ehrlich was erwartet man für den Preis den man gezahlt hat (ca 12€ für die Minivan/Busfahrt) mehr ?? Es gab keinen Mensch, der bei dem Gepäck saß und irgendwelche Sachen geklaut hat, zudem ist man selbst schuld wenn man Wertsachen nicht im Handgepäck lässt...
Die Fähranlage hat unsere Erwartungen mehr als übertroffen. Es gab einen Foodcourt in dem man noch leckeres Essen für wenig Geld kaufen konnte. Zudem war der Wartebereich mehr als geräumig und sauber. Die Fähren fahren alle halbe Stunde, man musst also kaum warten. Wir stiegen direkt ein und waren direkt begeistert. Es gab für unsere Kleinen eine eigene Spielecke. Zudem gab es einen Minimart, in dem man Snacks, Getränke und sogar Reis mit Ei usw kaufen konnte. Das Beste war jedoch dass ein Koch Pad Thai und Würstchen zubereitet hatte (das auf einer Fähre!) Haben wir noch nie irgendwo erlebt, und das kam nicht bei uns sondern auch bei unseren Mitfahrern an. Die Fähre fuhr pünktlich auf die Minuten los und kam pünktlich an. Auch die Toiletten waren sauber und in Ordnung.
Ich hatte ganz andere Erwartungen als die ganzen negativen Kommentare gelesen habe...Ganz ehrlich, entweder waren die auf einer ganz anderen Fähre oder sie haben einen an der Tasse. Für den Preis (ca 4€/Person) kann man in Deutschland in einer dreckigen Ubahn fahren - also wer es nicht mag, lass es.
All in all, sehr zu empfehlen. Es ist die günstigste Art nach Koh Samui/Phanang zu kommen.

Staff are not friendly and helpfull, we ask before planing our trip if we needs to make a resevation they said no needs once we reach the pier they told us if u dont have reservation u cant enter u need to pay first and wait but no one inform us what time our trip almost waiting more than 4 hours. Zero management. Not recommended at all.

Efficient & comfortable service! I used Seatran to and from Koh Samui - both journeys operated right on time, no delays. I was a bit worried about travelling with my dogs, but there were no issues at all - they were allowed to sit with me on the open deck for the crossing and none of the staff had any concerns.

We used Seatran to return to the mainland after using Raja to get to Samui. We pre-purchased tickets and were glad we did as it made the process easier. We tried to use them to get to Samui but they said it was going to be a 3 hour wait where we got on the next ferry with the other company.
One thing I didn't like is that the seats did not recline. The 1.5hr trip is long enough for a nap but sitting upright makes this difficult. Seatran did leave on time though and so we saved the extra 30mins that we accounted for loading and unloading. Very efficient service.

Hi, we are getting a taxi to the Seatran pier at Donsak to catch their ferry as foot passengers to Koh Phanang. Do we get dropped off away from the pier and then have to catch a bus to the pier or can the taxi take us all the way to the pier? I've seen a few videos on youtube where people get dropped off then need to find a bus. Just thinking ahead to save us any pain :-)

Hi John, my experience with taxis and the Seatran pier at Donsak is that you get dropped off right at the pier and its operating facilities which include the ticket office, coffee shop, ATM, waiting area, restrooms etc. Unless someone gave the taxi driver bad instructions, I see no reason why an additional bus ride would be necessary. Happy traveling and enjoy the ride. I like the observation deck with the breeze and the views...

Hello - I am planning to drive from Phuket to Koh Samui with my two pet dogs (well trained and very friendly). Are they able to sit with me on the deck, in the open air? I understand they would perhaps not be allowed in the cabin but I would prefer not to leave them in the car. Thank you

I got information from Sea Trans, as you can book their service from Phuket. And also available for land transportation to the Sea Trans Port. (Joint Ticket)

Internet will be confusing but also an option....
personally I use seatran ferries often and never booked ahead on Internet with a family of 3 young boys...
