Fun experience for a family of three ( two adults a two year old + small dog).
Interesting history and free audio guide helped.
Downgraded from a four point category due to a very rude train cart driver. Might just have been having a bad day, but it put a damper on the experience nonetheless

Het was echt een hele leuke ervaring in de grotten. We hadden nog niet eerder zo’n tocht met een treintje gemaakt. Wat een superleuke rit, informatief, spannend en een hele leuke gids!!!! We hebben genoten!!

Wij hebben de rondrit gedaan met schoonmoeder die niet zo goed de been is heel mooie mergelgrotten door muurtekeningen en kunstwerken maar spijtig weinig didactisch materiaal en uitleg over ontginning van mergel zelf verloren kans voor de rest schitterend zeker een aanrader zelfs als het buiten regent

Turned up, bought tickets for the little train. Sat at the front with a cheerful group of Dutch who did great translation work between them. Tour is fascinating. The numbers who lived in and hid in these marl caves over the centuries is phenomenal, up to and including the 2nd ww and the Cold War. Ignore negative comments, Brits need to learn that English isn't the main language in the Netherlands! Audio app doesn't work. Read up before you go.

Group of equal number of Dutch and English. Guide would not speak in English except to say it was only in Dutch and we should have downloaded English commentary. We learned nothing. It is caverns turned into tourist trap with some interesting backstory that can be found online.

Didn’t understand any of it sadly. My husband, my 10 year old and I were really looking forward to the tour. My son is studying WW2 at school so we organised this trip. I came here 10 years ago and the guide asked who was English and did everything he could. Massive shame especially considering we paid €23 to come in. The actual caves look brilliant - there’s some fantastic stuff down there and you could imagine the stories are incredible. My advice would definitely be to speak to the people on the front desk and ensure you have someone with you who is going to speak English - otherwise it will be very boring for you - as we sadly found.

Could have been a solid four but we arrived 14 min before opening the lady was rude and not helpful When the tour guide came they said it would be all in Dutch even though the guide spoke English and there were more English than Dutch speaking on the tour We got the English down load on our phone
( not with any help from the desk) and my husband helped some older ladies load theirs onto their phones We did use it on the tour but had to listen to the explanation in Dutch then use our phone to play in English what we were seeing Not ideal so please when you book make sure it’s an English tour or you download the app

Leuke ervaring om met een treintje door de grotten te gaan en mooie verhalen daar over.
De bestuurder was goed op de hoogte van alle bijzonder heden en is zeker een aanrader

Empfehlenswerter Höhlen-Weihnachtsmarkt in Valkenburg. Tickets am Besten vorher online, mit Timeslot kaufen. Auch an Weihnachten selbst geöffnet.

Wer einen beschaulichen, gemütlichen Weihnachtsmarkt sucht ist hier fehl am Platz. Das Angebot der Produkte ist nur in Teilen weihnachtlich gleicht eher dem Shoppingkanal im Fernsehen, Magnetschmuck, Strumpfhosen, Autopolitur. Die Deko mit Tannenbäumen und Lichtern ist okay, wobei für meinen Geschmack teils übertrieben kitschig, grell und bunt, ein bisschen american style.
Wer’s mag. Es schieben sich Menschenmassen durch die Straßen und Höhlen, alles durch Servicepersonal geregelt.
Die Höhlen haben einige schöne Wand-Malereien, die sich sicherlich zu einer anderen Jahreszeit besser bewundern lassen. Ebenso wie der scheinbar recht hübsche Ort mit dem kleinen hübschen Friedhof.
Hätte ich die Bewertungen vorher genauer gelesen, hätte ich mir die Anreise und das Geld sparen können.

Hoeveel bedraagt de prijs voor de rit met het treintje voor een groep bejaarden van +- 45 personen en kunnen ze allen samen in het treintje.
De uitstap zou doorgaan eind mei - begin juni.
Is er in de omgeving een gelegenheid om een broodje met soep, taart en koffie te gebruiken voor de ganse groep.

I was here in the summer of 2009 and we rode bikes underground. There is no mention of that here. Can you tell me where I was. It was really neat and there were two routes. The teenage girls went on their bikes in one direction and the adults in another direction. I have a friend going to the Netherlands for 18 months and would love her to experience the bike ride underground. Thanks
