Our Lodge was lovely..however the roads in complex are atrocious with deep potholes everywhere..poor lighting at lodge too unable to see anything near lodge

We stayed here for two nights first ever outing in our touring caravan.
Site was nice but this site is not for us.
Site was popular and there was a lot of people around mostly people came for the shooting range. There was a lot of lodges and these all seemed to be occupied suggesting the site is popular.
We arrived at around 5pm and it was pitch black, not much lighting around to park the caravan up. When we eventually got into position we set everything up and couldn't get a signal for the tv at all no matter what position we put the ariel in. Advertised as free wi-fi this didn't work either kept dropping out f the connection. We gave up and went over to the bar and restaurant and ordered some food, this was just OK. Husband got gammon and chips I got the festive turkey filled Yorkshire pudding looked nice and was reasonably priced however mine was all frozen food which put me off.
Site was muddy and as we had our dog with us he got really muddy quickly, good job we had brought throws with us for inside the caravan.
Shooting starts early so if you like to lie in I would avoid this site, also shop was closed on site when we arrived, but we was able to get some milk out of the hut which sells milkshakes and milk in a vending machine.
Over all our stay was OK, but we wont be returning as it was not for us, the only way we would return is for a pit stop if we decided to go further up to the highlands maybe.
Shooting continued all day and our dog was really nervous with the gun fire :(

Arrived less then half hour after get call to say we could check in early. Hottub lid was filthy no way had it been cleaned it was more like Luke warm water and didt see anyone come put and cleaning stuff in the week decking covered in bird pooh(yes they have peacocks but most the pooh was clearly weeks hold)
In side alot of spotty damaged tear in the sofa the lino alot of dust and dirty marks/stains on the walls
The front out side wasn't much better
In side and out could do very good clean and bits repaired
I wouldt say to dog friendly due to the cleaner in transit and the bloke who drives the big white van driving very fast considering it's a holiday site
The tracks around the site not better then building site

*Ticks/ or bed bugs in bed *
Where do I start with this other than it being very disappointing.
Let’s start with when we got there they took £200 pound hold deposit off us for any damages that may occur. I was advised it would be returned on check out still waiting.
The lodge had lots of wear and tear it’s smelled really bad of wet dog smell dampness. The fridge was stinking. The couch was all stained there was dead flys on window ledges and corners of bathroom floor crumbs and dirt swept under tv and my gosh the dirt under the couch and pet hair, it had definitely not been cleaned. The bed had what looked like dead flys which it turns out it wasn’t.
I called reception who said it had 100% been cleaned it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time cob webs spiders on the celling everywhere. I popped down to the local superstore got a mop wipes candle and antibacterial spray as no one came near.
We left early as my daughter got a tick bite in her arm and there was dead bed bugs or ticks in the bed I have photos.
Absolutely by far the dirtiest place I have stayed please save your money and go else where for what we paid for a weekend and the emotional damage it’s caused my daughter she has autism and took us so much encouragement and preparation to get there to have to leave. £495 Friday till Monday a £200 deposit that’s still not been paid we’ve thrown out pjs and some clothes incase anything from the cabin got into them it was vile.
I have emailed westlands and hoseasons with no response I didn’t want to put this on but I feel it’s only fair other people are away of this situation and how they handle it.
The staff in the reception and shooting range and front desk where friendly no faults there just the stargazing pods cleanliness.
When we pulled the top cover off the bed there was other peoples body hairs.
I left the place cleaner than we got it you should never have to go on holiday and clean and then have to leave with no response get my £200 deposit sent back.

Stargazer 1
We stayed for the weekend in stargazer 1 with hot tub and had a few issues which were sorted instantly thanks to Jon the receptionist and the maintenance man (sorry forgot his name ).
Such a lovely area and all staff approachable and I’m sad to be leaving it today .
I will be returning next year for longer I just fell in love with the place .

We arrived and the site on initial entrance looked nice but the lodge wasn’t what we expected for the price. We have stayed in far better places for less money.
Not enough oven wear. I’m talking there was no oven tray at all. Just a few dishes.
The place was warm as the weather was cold and raining for us but warning DO NOT keep unnecessary lights on when it’s dark because I’ve never seen so many bugs in my life!
They took £200 security out of my bank when we arrived and it has taken 5 weeks to return!! 5 weeks!! I have never had this before!
About of wear and tear in the lodge to be expected. But with us staying in a dog friendly lodge, like home we hoover once a day minimum to keep on top of any dog hair. There was no hoover! We asked at reception and their solution was to keep coming to pick one up and returning after use. Our lodge wasn’t near the reception. Great!
I really would have expected more. This isn’t somewhere I would return to. Which is a shame because the lake is a beautiful setting and it really could be a nice place to visit.
Disappointed to say the least.

Where do I start with this week other than it being very disappointing.
Let’s start with when we got there there was 200 pound taken off us as a hold for damages that may occur. I also ask about the complimentary dog blanket in the lodge we was meant to be stopping in which was advertised for this lodge and was told they had stop them but still advertised they did them. It also looked as though the owner child was running around the complex which I found was rather unprofessional.
We were meant to be stopping in a star gazer lodge 2 when we walked in to this lodge after the 200 pound was take I was shocked and in disbelief of the state of the accommodation. The floor liner was wripped up and glued back down poorly in multiple places. Every where you turned was multiple ware and tear and damage all over. The sofa was full of multiple stains / damage and made me feel as if I paid for a bed sit rather than a lodge. The outside of the lodge was covered in dirt and cob webs / bird poo which they claim had been cleaned before we arrived and the wooden outside table was wobble. The hanging chair also looked frayed and unsafe to sit on. The hot tube had dirt in it. When rang for reception to tell them all this I was told maintenance would come and look. This was after waiting half an hour for them to come. Maintenance arrived and abruptly told it was just the chemical that hadn’t mix right because it was raining but didn’t then look or help with any of the other complains at all.This is what they thought was acceptable to give as a lodge after paying nearly 800 pound before the 200 pound was taken.
I then went to reception who placed us in another accommodation which wasn’t the one we wanted (beach wood 5). Which I got to inspect before and still wasn’t happy but had to stop as couldn’t find anywhere else to stop.This still had damage and ware and tare through out and was told it had been empty for a while. The hot tube had bits in it from the tree which wasn’t emptied just told they couldn’t do anything about it and the hot tube would filter it out which never happened as the filter on the hot tube was broken off. I told reception this and was told they sort it but never sow anyone come and check/ fix this. One night we came out to the hot tube full of foam meaning we couldn’t use the hot tube we rang that evening and was told they could do anything till the next day and had to ring the next day for them to come and sort this as we wait in all morning to try and catch maintenance when they come to check the hot tube but no one came. This meant we had to ring again at dinner time before somebody came to check the level and tell us why this had happened. To add to this we believe they wasn’t checking the hot tube at all and this was evidence as the water when cloud to ward the end of the week. After we was move there was no new towel (complimentary) supplied. Luckily we had packet our own. In this lodge we also had problems sleeping as the circle window in the bedroom couldn’t be covered and woke us up in the early morning so we had to improvise a way to make the room a little darker. Not to mention the bed which was like sleeping on concrete it was so uncomfortable and to hot and couldn’t cool it off even without the heating.
We was given a voucher for a complimentary meal in their restaurant to compensate after basically telling them that I want to leave and we now wasted the start of our holiday and had no time to get some shopping in for us to eat.
When going in to the restaurant there felt to be an atmosphere between the staff and us. They was polity to our face but felt as though they didn’t want to deal with us if they could avoid it. The meals were lovely most of the time. Service was slow and staff would half check to find you with your food and then would say they been looking all round hold your meal but didn’t even look where we was actual sat in the end it took two of them to find us. While being sat outside once you had your main meal they would avoid come to check if it was okay and we sat waiting for them to take our plates for 30 min before just going back to our lodge as no came. Unless you took your own bowl and ask for water the staff wouldn’t offer a bowl of water even though they knew we had the dog with us.
The shooting range on site was loud and started at 9am meaning we couldnt sit and enjoy the nice weather out side or have a lie it as you could hear this even with the window shut as this is all you can hear all day every day of the week. These activities were all very expensive and overpriced for the time and shots you could get.
On check out the staff just took the key and some information that need passing on. Didn’t ask if we enjoyed our stay or how it was and seem they couldn’t wait to get rid of us.

Stayed in whisper which was very comfortable for the 4 of us ( all adults) very clean and tidy everything needed was there.
The reception team were very accomadating on arrival as was all staff during our stay. The restaurant served excellent meals including breakfasts which were great value for money plenty of choice on the menus.
A special thank you to David for all the advice on places to visit.

Just got back from a week in the Quantum lodge at Westlands. Given that the lodge is their signature showpiece lodge we went into this holiday hopeful. Unfortunately it started off on a negative as we were contacted on the morning of our stay stating the skylight which is used to access the sundeck on the roof (a special extra that this lodge has that we were very much looking forward to) was broken and the roof terrace won't be able to be used during our stay. We were given a £100 voucher to use on site but the fact we were told on the morning of our arrival was not a good start.
The lodge itself is beautiful very big, 2 bedroom 1 double 1 twin. 3 toilet 2 showers 1 bath.
Bathroom - fittings all very good quality but main issue is with the water pressure very low and temperature very temperamental. Also underfloor heating in WC and twin en suite.
Bedrooms - Lots of wardrobe space and coat hangers which is a plus. Double bed was comfy but too soft for our liking. Large smart TV in all rooms and dressing table in double.
Kitchen - well equipped and good fittings but feel a microwave is needed. They have a Nespresso coffee machine but don't supply pods so be aware. The hood fitting is coming away from the ceiling and also on our visit the washing machine door latch was broke so unable to use did report to reception.
Living room - the room is lovely with sliding doors all down the lodge but the sun beams through and can make the lodge very hot during the middle of the day. A fan would be required in the lodge as doors open lead to unsecure patio so the dog could get out feel a secure garden would make the lodge more dog friendly as we had to be on alert all the time and ended up baracading the open door so dog couldn't get out.
Outside - the lodge is very nice to look at from a distance but closer you see green on the slabs which requires a jet wash at least once a month I'd say. Also so many spiders around the outside of lodge may be off putting to some. Also some lights weren't working which lets down the look of the lodge at night.
Cleanliness - garden was left and not swept or cleaned prior to our arrival. Inside was a basic clean. Work surfaces, toilets and floor were fine but dust on shelves units skirtings soap spots still in shower grease on cooker hud. Cobwebs and spiders on ceiling. Hot tub wasn't checked whilst we were there.
Feel the lodge has most things covered and potential but is let down by the unsecured garden which most standard lodges have and it not being thoroughly cleaned to the standard we expect from the pricetag demanded. Also not having the roof access was a major let down.
The site overall the road on site is full of pot holes which needs some major repairs. Food in the restaurant was an ok standard a little pricey for what you get but very dog friendly which is nice. The gun shots from the on site shooting is loud from 9am our dog wasn't bothered but some dogs may struggle and a TV or music may be needed to keep them calm and drown out the noise.
Overall we wouldn't stay again because of points stated and feel for the price a lodge in a better location and in a better standard could be found elsewhere also the location is a little far from any attractions.

The site overall the road on site is full of pot holes which needs some major repairs. Food in the restaurant was an ok standard a little pricey for what you get but very dog friendly which is nice. The gun shots from the on site shooting is loud from 9am our dog wasn't bothered but some dogs may struggle and a TV or music may be needed to keep them calm and drown out the noise.
Overall we wouldn't stay again because of points stated and feel for the price a lodge in a better location and in a better standard could be found elsewhere also the location is a little far from any attractions.

Possibly one of my favourite lodge holidays I’ve been on. We were in a party of 12 with 4 lodges. Our lodge was the Kirkland number 25 and was immaculate. Lodge seems very new and well looked after. We ate in the restaurant on site which I would also recommend and has a menu with large variety. Also paid to do the shooting on site which we got at a discount for staying at Westland’s country park. We had a great instructor and would also recommend doing this. Overall a fabulous stay and would return!

Is there a pub nearby that show sports?

Booked a short stay in a few weeks but slightly worried about some of the reviews that suggest the noise from the shooting. Our dog is terrified of fire and irks and I don’t want her to be distressed by the noise. How loud is it and are there quieter areas?

The place uses the slogan “Shoot, Fish, Stay” and the shooting ground can be busy all day, more so at weekends and especially if the weather is fine. As a shooter I don’t mind the noise, nor does the dog. It will depend on which lodge you’ve booked.

We didn't have any food deliveries but there's a Tesco in Annan a short drive away. I'm sure the helpful reception staff will answer any queries you have. Enjoy your break.
