‪This is the place where Lord Shiva and Ambal parvati came down from Kailash and made effort to reduce the anger of Lord Muruga..

Lord Muruga got angry because he was not given the auspicious Mango fruit brought to Kailash by sage Naratha..

So, he came down to earth and settled in this place.. Lord Murugan also Declared this place as his own region and the people living are under HIS control..

Hence the name of the main deity of this
Temple are as Kailasanathar and Periyanayaki Amman..

A large temple complex in the form of Somaskandar type.. That is, lord murugan sannithi is between Shiva and Ambal sannithi.. ‬

‪This temple is mainly known to local people of Palani and regular devotees of Palani andavar. Also know are Periyanayaki Amman temple or Oru Kovil. This is the temple formed as Somaskandar principle, where we have Siva in Right and Ambal in Left and Murugan lies in Centre, similar to the idol form of Somaskandar. Where dont have a great Raja gopuram, its in complete may be destroyed during times. You have to first enter a pillar mandapa where we have durga devi's divine statue with many sculptures and later entering the mottai gopuram you can move to Right seeing Ambal first (Periyanayaki) she is the main deity of this temple, clean small temple with thalavruska, ganapthy surya and chandra on side, later coming around temple you can see Muthukumarasamy with valli devasenai. Then we have Kailasanathar(siva) one another main deity, we have many parivara devathaigal on temple premise. This is the temple where flag hoisting(Dwaja Roohanam) happens for all the festivals conducted in Palani, ** Not in the hill temple**. Thai poosam, panguni uthram, Visaham all festivals are done here. Utchavar idol from here (Muthu kumara swamy) comes in procession for all the Car festival(Ther). This temple also have a very big Silver Chariot which are note to watch during festival times. Never the murugan from hill come down for procession, only during Kandasasti hill temple murugan comes down and go up after sura samharam. Worth to watch the important temple of palani. Since inside the town this temple is located hence all festival happens, earlier times people will not go after evening to hill temple, since its dark and not safe. Now time have passed. Peace full temple where you can see local students used to study here at evening times.‬

‪This temple is said to be older than the Palani Murugan temple and the main deities are Goddess Periyanāyaki and Kailāsanāthar (shiva) with Subramanyar(Murugan) in the center. This form of Murugan seated in the centre with parents to his right and left is called Somaskanda Moorthi. It is tradition stone temple with lot of sculptures on the pillars.‬
