‪There is no management. No police and all private staff without any rules. When we are standing in line they are leaving some other persons in between. Horrible is inside the shivalinga place .. only 1 door for entrance & exit. Need to improve tourism.. Govt. has to involve.. I visited for Shivarathri..‬

‪The temple is a holy place beyond review. However, beware of the organized system to cheat you of thousands. Do not believe the guy offering the room on rent for your stay. That money is only for the prasad bouquets. You need to pay a hefty sum to the pandit in the temple specially if you want to offer baby hair to the God. Seperate costs for Gangajal as well as incense sticks. Even if you pay all these, you still need to queue with the others and struggle to get inside the temple to offer your prayers and pour holy water on lord Shiva. The solution is to rent the room (no other payment to the room guy), buy prasad bouquet on your own and of your choice and go straight to the queue for entering the temple. If you are not offering baby hair, you can bypass the priests and go directly with the others to offer prayers inside. Bargain with the priest and do not take their initial price for granted. Most important !! Do not go for the package service offered by the guys giving the rooms for rent.‬

‪It is a beautiful temple of lord shiva but the fleecing by the pandas/priest destroys the sanctity of this place. Right from the bus stand or railway station these pandas/ priest will be after you and once you fall in their trap they will fleece you to the hilt. If you can overcome the fleecing it is a must visit and around two hrs by train from HOWRAH. ‬

‪My memory of this place from my childhood was not very clear, so I decided to visit this place in recent times, before writing this review. This place has not changed a bit, still those chaotic encounters with the Pandas, crowded and very mush dirty place. try to avoid going to this place during monsoon, because a lot of people around the country come to this place for the custom. ‬

‪Taraknath Temple of Tarakeshwar, is in Hooghly District, WB.
The temple is also one of the oldest in the city, dating back to the 18th century. Thousands of devotees, from all over India, come here to offer their prayers to the presiding deity 'Lord Tarakeshwar'.

The present form of the temple is said to have been built by Raja Bharamalla, in 1729 AD. Tarkeshwar Temple has a typical Bangla architecture, with a sanctum and a veranda in its front. The idol of the Lord is installed in the middle of the sanctum.
The tetra faced veranda has three-vaulted railings on its roof. In front of the veranda, there is an assemblage hall for devotees. The temple records maximum crowd on the holy day of Mahashivratri. Another grand celebration at the temple is Chaitra Sankranti. Even on Monday, the temple is extremely crowded, as it is considered as the day of Lord Shiva.
NOTE: If need to stay, please go to Loknath Hotel, quite close to the temple. Its a basic hotel but provides very good service, charges very reasonable rate. It is not listed in any online way, but very good property.
Because WB govt. tourist hotel always occupied with govt. baboos and municipality guest house is no.1 worst class, that don't provide any service except room.‬

‪We hired a taxi from Gujarat Bhavan where we were staying .We started at 11am and teachers Tarkeshwar by 1 pm.There was not much rush for the Darshan .The shivling in temple is covered with a metal shield and there are some openings through which we can touch the Shivling.Men have to remove their shirts to touch the shivling. On our way back there is a nice place to eat which is managed by the Kashi Vishwanath Samiti. It is a few kms from Tarkeshwar. For Rs 120 they gave very tasty and unlimited food.On the whole a very nice trip.‬

Reached after visiting Antpur Ramakrishna Mission, some temples of Antpur and Rajballavi (Swet Kali) temple, Rajbalhat.
We reached Tarakeswar Temple at about 3.30 PM.
Parking facility for four-wheelers and two-wheelers is available.
We were fortunate enough to the puja preparatory custom sequentially. We could view bathing of the Shivlinga. Then the Shivliinga was covered with silver. Then plenty garlands with different flower were used. Finally gold and silver chains were used. The above is termed as Rajbesh. God Taraknath is dressed with Rajbesh on every Purnima (full moon) and Amavasya (अमावस्या–complete dark). We could view the God peacefully with the Rajbesh.
We collected Bhog Prasad also.
Photography inside the temple is strictly prohibited.
After spending more than two hours we started our return journey.
We returned via Singur Highway, Durgapur highway to our residence very near to Kolkata Airport.

‪Visited several times with family & shall visit again & again whenever gets the opportunity. The Temple is situated at Tarakeshwar and well connected with local train from Howrah & by Road. Baba Tarakeshwar is the reigning deity and devotees from all over the city / country visit the place for worship. This is a holy & religious place and always crowded by the devotees throughout the year and especially in ‘Shravan’ month, millions of devotees visit the temple. Necessary puja offerings (like flower, fruits, sweats etc.) are available within the temple premises. Several small accommodations at hourly basis is also available nearby for rest & change. We always get a serenity post visit of the temple. Jai Baba Tarakeshwar.‬
