Chandika Devi Devasthan, Dhabol.
Chandika Devi Devasthan or Chandika Devi Temple or Chandika Devi Mandir, take your pick because it has been mentioned by one of the three titles at various places. For ease of writing, I selected Chandia Devi Temple.
Reached the temple which is located in a hilly terrain next to a ridge, on the northeast of Dhabol town. Just outside the temple, there are lots of shillings. There is a tale attached to them.
The Chandika Devi idol is located in a cave in the mountainside.
As you enter the room after crossing the arched gate you see a door below a large photo of the Chandika Devi idol. This door is the cave entrance. The ceiling of the cave is quite low and you have to bend and lower your head to enter the cave. The ceiling height increases further on.
As per tradition, there is no electrical lighting in the cave. The passage through the cave is narrow, at the max, only two persons can walk side by side, The passage is lit by oil lamps positioned at regular intervals. As can be expected, it is not brightly lit and one has to proceed carefully.
The Gharbh Graha where Swayambhu idol of Goddess Chandika Devi is located is lit by a lot of lamps and is comparatively better lit. At least the idol is nicely illuminated. Here even the cave ceiling is also higher and a person of average height can stand erect. The goddess is attended by a pujari who facilitates darshan/worship of the visitors and devotees. He also ensures that no one takes photos of the Goddess as photography is prohibited.
The idol of the goddess is decorated with ornaments and dressed in traditional Indian attire. The visible portion of the idol is three to four feet high. The idol is four-armed holding traditional shankh, Chakra, Gada, and Padma. Due to ornaments and clothing, it is difficult to see all four arms. Clearly.
There are two legends associated with Chandika Devi Temple. One is that the Pandavas created the temple by their divine powers. The other legend is that Goddess Chandika Devi appeared in the dream of one Jamna Puri of Gosavi sect and told him about her presence in a cave the entrance of which was blocked by boulders. Jamna Puri found the cave removed the boulders from the entrance and found the swayambhu idol of Goddess Candika Devi. He started daily worship and carried out religious rituals. Since then, Puri’s descendants of Jamna Puri, have been carrying out the worship and rituals of The Goddess Chandrika Devi.
Passage through the oil lamp dimly lit cave and having the darshan of lamp lit idol of Goddess Chandrika Devi is a surreal experience. The temple is located in hilly and beautiful scenic surroundings.

This was quite a nice place to take photos. There is a small canteen here, enjoy nice poha and tea. Behind the temple if you keep walking for 100 mtrs there is a water blow point. It's beautiful out there , but a bit risky. Take care as the rocks are slippery. Stay safe.

The inside beauty and ambience of the temple is fascinating and special mention should be made of the very aged and learned priest whom I met inside.

This is a beautiful temple near Dabhol. It is located in a very beautiful place where many people visit to seek divine intervention and blessings. The temple is located inside the cave and it is considered sacred among the locals.

One must definitely visit this temple in Dabhol. You need to take a few steps downward wherein it is totally dark only lit up with earthen lamps. The Idol is swambhu implying that it is formed naturally and not man made. Do sit for few minutes and enjoy the peace.

Chandika Mandir in Dabhol situated around 27 km from Dapoli. Dabhol town is located on the south-west border of Dapoli. Once you reach the Mandir, there are a few steps that take you to some colourful creations from mud.
The temple is underground in a natural cave, the Idol is said to have formed naturally, at the back of the Mandir, is the water source from where drinkable water is being supplied. There are a lots of Mango tree outside the Mandir, natural peaceful and not a very touristy spot to visit.

Very different and scared place. Goddess is situated in a dark cave which is lightned with small diyas. Must visit temple when you are Dapoli/dabhol trip.
Locals provide food on order basis which is good. Just order it well in advance, before visiting temple.

We did stay at Velneshwar MTDC so we went through Guhagar... It takes around an hour to reach to Dhopawe wherein you would need to take a ferry to cross the creek to Dabhol..It runs every 45 Min and you can load your vehicle in that. Post reaching Dabhol the temple is around 3-4 Kms ..Make sure you keep looking at right to locate the sign...the idol is situated in a cave with no lights so it will be fun for kids to visit as well ... If you are going in summer you would get some good quality mangoes just outside the temple .

We had been there last month. While roaming around in Guhagar, we came across this temple. A simple one, typical kokani temple with atmosphere of devotion.
