- 4 sep2022- I had been to this place. This place is maintained by Arch dept of India.. My blood came out, through all holes in my face after seeing this. Totally neglected by govt - giving scant respect to Hindus. The govt spends money to send Muslims to Mecca , but doesn't have money to spend to even maintain to even bear min. If they ask many HINDUS will spend willingly to renovate. All the SHIVALINGAMS were told to be installed by Lakshmana, Shatrughan even BY LORD Hanumanji. worst - several shiva lingas are kept open in the northern side which only made to weep. The toilet building -is kept neatly locked & my old wife had to suffer. climbing the hill several ashrams, contain even shivalinga installed by Pandavas. The actual scripts of Ramayana - point to BITOOR near -Kanpur is the exact place where Sitama delivered Lava & Kusa. wonder how this place is connected to this story. Yet this holds place is utmost revered, Govt has to allow the public o renovate or do it by themselves.

It’s a beautiful ancient temple and you can spend a soulful morning/evening! We went in December and the weather was perfect and place was wonderful to end our year and it’s just about 1.5 hours drive from Bangalore on the Kolar highway!

Avani Betta is also known for the Sita Temple situated on the top hill of this area. This popular temple is dedicated to the Devi Sita the most alluring character of the Ramayana. It is said that Sita and her two sons, Lava and Kusha, resided in Avani Betta Kolar during her exile in the forest area.

This temple has a historical significance. It lives upto the ratings that it has been given. The beautiful and large temple premises help one get closer to our history. A small trek on the hill adjacent to the temple is also advised to get a better view of the city around. The temple is amidst a village and does not have a basic facilities around, so carrying enough water and some snacks would be a good idea. The people/kids from the surrounding area would proactively want to assist you in the trek. Be mindful of their tactics to earn/extort money from you.

The place is little over an hour from Whitefield, shortly after Kolar city. Avani is about 15-20mins off the main highway. The Bramhalingeshwara temple is pretty nice to visit once - very clean and well maintained. No admission fees! The places associated with Ramayana/Sita are on a small hill - takes about 2 hours to climb, take a look, and return. Having a local guide helps to understand the significance of various small temples and caves on the hill and these guides are not expensive. The climb is a bit steep at one place and would be hard for senior citizens. Huge boulders on the hill are a marvel for kids. However, the place would be very warm during summers - little shade on the climb. Also, no good places to eat around Avani so carry your own food and good amount of water, esp for the climb.

Very old temple under the protection of ASI, a very peaceful place on the foot of a rocky hill. There are temples for Ram, Lakshma, Bharat, Shatrughan and for Bali and Sugriv, while the temple for Ram has the deity and a priest the rest of the temples are unmanned, each has huge Shiva Lingas inside, so its mostly the architecture. There is trekking opportunity to the top of the hill where there is Sita Temple. The road from NH75 to Avani is in very good condition, but twisty with several blind turns (got to be careful and not over speed). Since the temple is in the middle of the village Avani, there are some small shops selling chips and other packed stuff. Please carry your own water bottle and since its mostly open, try to go there during morning as during hot days it could be difficult.

Avani is name of Village. Name of temple is 'Ramlingeshwara temple'. Its a very old temple with beautiful architecture. Temple have many small temples for all brothers of Rama. Priest told us a story related to love-kush and Rama war, as well about Sita's temple which is situated on top of hill behind Ramalingeshwara temple.
So we decided to go for Sita's temple on the hill. Its a easy level trekking to reach on top of hill. it may take 1 hour to 2 hour to reach on top based on you stamina of climbing hill. at many places there are steps to climb on hill.
After reaching on top of hill, we got a drinking water in temple. Also you will get nice view from this place.
Overall its a nice place to enjoy with family as well as friends. Trekking is easy so older people can also go there.
And good option for one day trip from Banglore.

Upon reaching there and speaking to the priest, we came to know that this is the same place called "Avantika" that features in the Sanskrit shloka "Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya...."At the base of a hill, there is a temple where worshipping happens and further down is a series of architectural temples. Atop the hill is a temple called Sita Parvati, with which a legend about childless mothers becoming future mothers is associated. On the way up the hill are a series of caves, each of with which various legends like about Sage Valmiki, Lava-Kusha are also associated.
