One of the dedicated zones in thenmala to experience the eco tourism. Tickets available in the tourism office nearby. -( u can get tickets for other zones like boating, trekking, etc there)
Parking - needs to be done at the dam entrance, little away from this zone
This leisure zone gives a nice trekking experience for people who want to walk in a natural environment.. Though it's a long trail (1 hour) for old age people.. Still one can enjoy the walk taking along lots of pics in the greenery and the statues across the path. Finally ends with dam view and a hanging bridge.
The statues are not maintained well, and most of them are in very poor condition. But the place is good for its greenery, views and the hanging bridge.
Note - elders can skip the long walk and go to dam directly through exit path.. U can also enjoy the hanging bridge with out the walk.
Avoid this place during noon, as you wont find anything to eat or drink along the path.
Also there are some areas crowded with monkeys, so better to go as a group for safety. Also it's very deserted sometimes.

Adjacent to the Dam.. There are many sculptures and modern art works.. I think they kept sculptures of all the types of Dinosaurs .. Walking on the pathway along the river was very relaxing. Overall it's a park.. not a great Leisure Zone.

Nowhere close to leisureness. Journery is tiring even in winter. This place is not safe for children and elderly.
No proper railings or fencing. No drinking water availability. Nothing much to see.
If you are expecting non leisure, non comfy walk into greenery and burn some calories, this place is for u. Otherwise its not worth the money and time.

A beautiful park surrounded completely by trees and has lots of places to sit, enjoy the shade, and relax the mind.
There are lot of sculptures and boards which are for informative purposes.
Hanging bridge is the main highlight of this zone.

Please ensure more drinking water supply. That is the main fault @ leisure zone. All over experience good but for the fee it's not worth

Good place to visit with friends and family. Well maintained park. The walk way is very clean and well planned. It blends with the natural beauty. The statues built there are amazing. It is very realistic. Beautiful view to the dam and we can spend time there. There is monkeys inside the park they are friendly but don't try to feed them, for food they may attack. Very calm and quiet atmosphere

We visited the Leisure zone in Thenmala with parents and a couple of kids. This place has some decent walkways and excellent sculptures and photo ops. However, would not recommend taking small kids here as there are no safety railings in most spaces and the walkways and footpaths are narrow and dangerous in certain areas and the "trek" can be a bit long and tiring.
For teens and adults however, it can be quite enjoyable and would specially recommend the suspension bridge.

Leisure Zone, part of Thenmala Ecotourism is a marvelous picnic spot where visitors can unwind all stress and strain and relax in absolute harmony with nature. Can spend about 2-3 hours here idly walking through the winding trails of walkways amidst thick forest like tall trees and strolling through the river front walkways enjoying close view of Kallada river. Can also get a beautiful closeup view of Thenmala Dam from the river front walkway. Through out the place there are lots of spots for taking beautiful snaps of the stream and the dam besides the walkways itself which are good targets for photo shoot. There is a suspended bridge from the river front walkway across the river which extends up to the " Nest", the Swiss cottage type accommodation provided by Ecotourism. A walk through this bridge is a pleasant experience. There is a Sculpture Garden where various species of Dinosaurs are on display. Children will greatly enjoy these sculptures. There are lots of resting places through out the zone along the walk ways where visitors can rest whiling away some quality time admiring the nature. The zone is located at the Dam main junction on Trivandrum road immediately after the bridge. The place is open till 5.45 PM. Visitors can certainly enjoy couple of hours in this serene place. Go for it.

Leisure Zone is the right place to have a good walk and enjoy what the nature has to offer. Green forests, a deer park, the display of sculptures, the hanging bridge...and the walk through the trekking path is not tiresome but relaxing. If maintained properly this area will attract more tourists for sure. We loved the walk through the shady path and the suspension bridge.

Actually there is nothing much. You may have a very light trekking like experience and see some sculptures. And there is walkway where you can relax for sometime. The only attraction I found there is the hanging bridge. That is the place where you can have some nice clicks. We were a group of friends and to say it was a waste of money and time for us. Better you can avoid this place if you are on a bachelors trip, you may choose adventure zone instead. But for a family trip including small children this will be a nice option. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is not much eatout options there. So better pack your foods and go.
