Went there with my wife and children 6 and 11. All of us loved it and we were greated with incredible hospitality and the hostesses have in dept knowledge of the area. Even if we have a healthy amount of scepticism regarding prophecies and such it was a great time and not very expensive compared to other things highly recommend

résume brièvement l'histoire de cette prophétesse qui avait prédit sa mort . Elle a monté la montagne , voisine de ce village . Cette montée est facile et offre un spectacle 360degré.

This museum is so far my favourite thing in Iceland - and believe me I love Iceland. I made a special trip as I knew I must see this museum (I couldnt visit my first drive past but terrible weather meant I unexpectedly came back this way.) The *wonderful* lady who owns it knew I hadn't managed to visit on my earlier drive past, opened it specially for me. She told me all about the fortune telling styles she and her colleagues used in specially and beautifully designed rooms (get a reading if you get the chance, I couldnt as the storm was fast on my heels and I needed to keep driving, I know I will regret it until I can come back!)
I heard the stories of the original seer and the methods used by her and other Icelandic practitioners. A rare female icon of the sagas. The proprietor was funny and informative and I wish I had been able to spend much more time there. It's in a gorgeous nook of Iceland, watch out for key baring ravens and give finding the lost treasure a try :).

My fiancé and I stopped by here on our trip in Northern Iceland. We loved learning about Þórdís and having our fortunes told. This has a nice gift shop. Highly recommend going to this place, even if it is a little off the beaten path.

My friends and I visited this cafe/museum while on our way to NES, an artist residency in Skagastrond. I almost feel like we went to Skagastrond almost as much for this museum and cafe. I met an incredibly kind Icelandic woman who read my palm, something I don't usually do. It was part of a "cocktail" of a three-part reading. She didn't look into the future so much as tell me some things about myself. I found myself nodding the entire time. Afterwards, I had a cold soft drink called Bitter Lemon with my friends who had tea. This was absolutely one of my highlights here in Iceland. I will always remember Sigrun, the woman who read my palm. Again, I am usually not in favor of such things, but I am glad she did. She is a the great granddaughter of Guðrún frá Lundi, an accomplished Icelandic author circa 1960s of books for women. Talk about a small world in Iceland...she remember seeing me about three weeks ago in Sauðárkrókur while visiting a tannery there. An exhibit about her great grandmother is in the town's former police station. Please check this place out and that place out while you're in Iceland this summer.

Отличная идея с музеем. Для полного погружения советую еще подняться на соседнюю гору, на которую согласно легенде каждый день пророчица холила расчесывать волосы.

Made an appointment to go to the museum and spent a lovely afternoon there with Dagny the Story Teller/Reader. In the summer there are usually 3 or 4 women who alternate at the museum. As it was off season I had to make an appointment and Dagny was my guide.
First she gave me a tour of the different reading rooms. ( yes there are 4 different spaces for the 4 different divination practices. Tarot, Runes, coffee grind reading, and palms.
Then in the large space of the museum I heard the story of Thordus the first settler in Skagaströd, and some stories new and old from the Sagas and a local writer who imagined Thorus' end because the sagas don't cover that.
It's a very new museum with a small gift shop where local crafters sell their items, from knit Icelandic wool mittens and sweaters to Jewlery, maps and a compilation of the stories of Thordus from the sagas in a more concise collection ...right now it is only available In Icelandic. It is the hope that within the next year they will have the book translated into English.
I really enjoyed my time there, and learned a lot about the local community, how they came together to build this great little venue, and how it supports the community and inspires learning and feminism in a most unique and fun way.
After a trip to the museum one is inspired to climb the mountain and search for the the prophetess's hidden treasure!
