Empfehlenswert!

Probably one of the largest monolithic statues in the world, the statue of revered Jain figure Gommateshwara, depicting his meditation, is situated atop the Vindhyagiri hill. The view from the top of the hill is magnificent. There are approximately 700 steps from the bottom of the hill to the top, and the barefoot climb becomes difficult during the day. There are facilities like safekeeping of footwear, snacks and coconut water, public toilet and many vendors selling socks near the base of the ascent.

One of the popular holy places in Karnataka. The hike to the temple is not very tough, but not an easy one either. It is done on bare foot or with socks only as no shoes are allowed. So you don't want to hike when the stairs are hot with Sun. So reach early and come back early. However after the climb, the view is beautiful. The temple's architecture and Bahubali statue itself is amazing. Spend some time by sitting in the temple campus after worshipping and all. One will feel the beauty of past and live it. Those who like historical places, will love it. Road to the temple from Bangalore is awesome. Perfect for a one day family outing or even for business delegates.

The giant 58 foot statue of Bhagwan Bahubali at Shravanabelagola is housed within the Vindhyagiri Temple atop the Vindhyagiri hill. To reach the temple one has to trudge up more than 600 steps from the bottom of the hill. We had to leave our footwear at the stand where the attendant gave us a token on payment of a small fee. There is no other entry fee.
It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to go up the steps, stopping many times on the way, as the incline is quite steep. It is better to start the trek up early before the sun starts heating up the ground and baking your feet. There are railings along the way, which helped us to pull ourselves up when the legs got tired. The old and infirm should avoid the climb, but there are palanquins available, carried by 4 porters, and they will carry you up for a fee.
The temple is very good, and there are many idols and carvings of the Jain Tirthankaras inside the temple. The statue of Bahubali is the centre of attraction. Photography is not allowed inside. This temple is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for the followers of the Jain religion. Jain monks perform their rituals and penance in absolute silence at the temple. At the exit you will be asked for a donation, and you may contribute at your discretion.
The view from outside the temple compound is very beautiful. We could see a lovely rectangular pond, and the Chandragiri hill on the other side of the town of Shravanabelagola.
Restaurants and food stalls are located at the base of the hill. Drinking water and toilet facility is also available. It is best to drink some tender coconut water before and after your trek.

It is a very good place to visit for workship. To reach the top of the mountain where you have the statue, one need to walk around 1000 steps. The view from the top is as good as the status itself.

The 58.8 ft high monolithic rock statue stands high since 993 AD built by Ganga dynasty minister Chavundaraya in who's name a beautiful Basadi is built on opposite Chandragiri hill. It is world's largest monolithic statue. The steps were carved using traditional chiseling method recently by ASI for the forth time past 1000 years. After anoitment where does the milk go, through which outlet is still a mystery. Its believed that it gets collected in the Kalyani below (hence the name BelaGola meaning white pond though it is not white). But it is not sure. The statue has not got a single crack till date. It's a realization how mere a human looks when he is at the feet of Lord Gomateshwara. Mahamastakabhishek is done every 12 years. This time in 2018 it is extended till august on sundays. Peaple who have missed, have two more sundays to be blessed with this view. There are 4 more monolithic statues of Bahubali in Karnataka - Karkala (42 ft), Dharmasthala (39 ft), Venur (35 ft) and Gommatagiri (20 ft)

This is the most iconic place on the cultural map of India. Hasan district of Karnataka is blessed with many heritage sites. Shravanbelgola is one of them and is at top of the list. The town has two hills "Vidhyagiri" and "Chandragiri" which hosts Jain temples atop. On Vidhyagiri one can see 57 foot tall monolithic statue of Lord Bahubali. The statue was made in 923 A. D. by Chamundaray. After every 12 years a special festival called "Mahamastakabhishek" and devotees and tourists pour from to this place from all over the world.

Yes, Doly is available. While there are regular doliwalas, there are some special arrangements made for this month and possibly next as well.
I am not sure of the fees, but if I have to guess, it should be about 800/- or 1000/- Rupees.
