I was disappointed, because we were only at the bottom of the road from here, but it was only open on one occasion, so we wait until later in the week & unfortunately it wasn’t open again. It’s was the Easter holidays though, so I’m thinking that’s why?
It looked good through the gates.

Do Bother!
We three British middle aged guys had passed this garden many times on our last holiday here in 2017. We missed a treat!
We eventually visited it on a sunny Thursday afternoon to find it tranquil and colourful. Only a few people were wondering around and congregating at a tiled semicircular seating area
under a gently decaying pergola; one couple with a bottle of wine and glasses, ourselves with a few cans of Lidl’s Finest Taste The Difference beer and plastic cups!! Very pleasant! The Rangoo Creeper and Madagascan Jasmine were taking advantage of the pergola but there were many unpopulated columns that need additional climbers planted by them so the benches really are in the shade on a sunny afternoon.
Yes it needs a bit of tlc the seating area needs a hose down to clean off the bird shht, some plants need legible labels, a few more benches, a washing hands facility (the aqua potable hose by the bungalows corner was dry) but ultimately it’s a lovely place to escape to (if you block out the traffic nearby!) after the hecticness of the Yumbo etc….
As I type I think a firecrest flitted between the nearby Ipomoea crassicaulis. Birdsong and butterflies are everywhere! A resident Monarch rested nearby long enough got me to take a pic of this, the largest butterfly in GC.
Trees include Weeping Bottlebrush, Horseradish, Sausage, Tamarind, Kaffirboon Coral, Baobab, Mimosas. Palms include Australian Ferns, South American Royal, Bread and Yucca, Cordelia etc.. Cacti include the Indian Fig, Agave, Prickly Pear (contained here!), Bigthorn Euphorbia, Kauri Pine, Bamboo and Sugar Cane. Lots of bushes, herbs and flowers too obviously! Try to find The Mickey Mouse Plant!
Yes a very few are dying, struggling or dead but you could blame Anthroprogenic Global Warming instead of neglect. The eccentric Swede who donated the park to the council might be turning in his grave at Global Warming or the council’s lack of investment. It is a free garden, quiet anyway so to charge for it, employ a ticket person would probably lose money, unless there is a secure donation box/online donation system. For the price of a beer in a bar per person visiting a part/time label researcher and writer could be employed.
No staff were seen anywhere tending anything so no one to tell you off for having a drink. There was an irrigation system in place and working. Some of the labels were damaged, faded or missing.
Well worth the visit!
It makes a change from the Astroturfed low maintenance ‘garden’ roadside verges, central reservations of grounds of Green parks/gardens/field’s resort elsewhere!

Having visited the jardin botanico Viera y Clavijo near Las Palmas last week, and been incredibly disappointed, I am delighted to report that this garden in Maspalomas is well worth a visit. We loved it! The one way system is easy to follow and ensures that you see all of the garden. There is an array of trees, plants and shrubs. Lots of colour and flowers. And lovely butterflies. The 30 bus from Las Palmas stops right outside.

Zonde!!! Vergane glorie!!

A tranquil place with a variety of plants that survive the local climate. It is true that the park needs a bit more of a financial investment to revive its tired appearance. Hopefully someone can help.

Der var ikke meget at se på.
Der var dog tydeligt mærket op i forhold til afstand m.m.

Don't waste your time such a shame it has not been maintained. Trees, shrubs and flowers all dying. Took 15 nubs to walk around, no facilities or cafe, just a garden in the middle of a town, which has sadly been left to die.

Achtung: Es gibt keine Toilette.

What number bus stops near the botanical park please?

So nobody has answered yet- i can’t tell you the numbers of the bus (even if I could it’s anyone’s guess which side of the road it stops at!) and although I love going there (because we always stay over the road from it) I would say you might feel a bit peeved if you needed a big bus trip to get there unless it was a special interest of yours. It is a small but lovely park with a lot of specimen trees plants etc but that is all. I would say it’s a ten to 15 minutes slow plod from yumbo centre and down a little hill. Although lovely and well tended it shouldn’t be considered a must do unless you need to kill some time or escape the bustle

This is a lovely park worth visiting. It has so many types of trees and plants and is well looked after. I loved going around and sitting in it. You can also see many types of birds which are nice to watch. Lovely butterflies also, and some amazing interconnected complex spider webs on plants with big and small spiders on. It is a peaceful place, nice to spend time in. Simon Gregory

Hola,
