Walked over this bridge while holidaying in Ceres. A really unusual hump back bridge with cobbles. Walk over the bridge on way to Harvest Mouse tearoom

We went along primarily to photo the bridge, very lovely in the spring sunshine. We also stopped off for coffee at the Weigh House Tearoom. Lovely atmosphere, very nice people, and a lot of their cakes are gluten free. Get in early though if you want their scones!

Conveniently situated by the main car park and providing access to the Fife Folk Museum and tearoom on the other side of the stream, this splendid 17th century packhorse bridge is known as the Bishop's Bridge after Archbishop Sharp who apparently passed over it on a journey to St Andrews in 1679.
Packhorse bridges come in various styles and sizes and this one, with its rather steep single arch, is a very attractive example.

This small bridge spans the stream/burn which flows through the Fife village of Ceres, and close by the village's Fife Folk Museum.
For us it was part of an early morning walk with our dogs over the week stay at the village.
Apparently the bridge was built in the 1600s and is known as a 'Packhorse Bridge', being the means by which goods carried by horses was brought into and out of the village.
The bridge now leads into a large car park which both serves the museum and the village as a whole.

One of the best examples of a packhorse bridge in Scotland .This is an 'A' listed structure by Scottish Environment .The 27 foot span is 6 feet between the sides . A very pretty setting with the stream flowing through it and the Tearoom and folk museum on the far bank attracts many visitors to the area . There is a large free car park with notice boards giving a history of the area and a map of walks

During a drive we had yesterday evening, we ended up in the small village of Ceres, and parked in the main village car park.
Bishop's Bridge links the visitors car park to the top end of High Street and the Fife Folk Museum.
This is the only example of a packhorse bridge in Fife, and the narrow bridge goes back to the days when goods were carried on the backs of horses. It actually dates back to the 17th century, and spans the burn in a very beautiful part of the village.
