What’s with all the five star reviews!?!? This place was a huge disappointment ! Videos which freeze in the middle, faded information banners, others with so much text peeled off they’re unreadable, labels missing the end of sentences, a strange collection of artefacts mostly without labels. This place desperately needs some TLC. A few hours work and a small amount of money and it could be great. Seriously - a video made in 1995 and never updated!?! …
It filled in an hour on a wet afternoon, but if you don’t visit, you’re really not missing much!

This is an excellent museum. It has historic artefacts, excellent interpretation and a series of audio visual displays including a movie about sugar. If it had the smell of molasses and some crushed sugar cane to drink it would be next level.

Very informative museum, showing the history of the sugar industry in QLD, the process to make sugar from the sugar cane. You can easily spend a few hours in this museum looking at the displays and watching the various videos.

What an interesting museum.
There are a lot of excellent plant and equipment displays.
The photos and writeups of the state of the early cane workers was very interesting and full of information that is generally not known.
Well worth a visit.

A great little place to find out all out the process of sugar cane to sugar. You could spend hours reading all the information and watching the informative videos. Volunteer staff were amazing and very knowledgeable.

Dropped in as it was next door to where we had breakfast. Volunteer staff very friendly and helpful. Watched the introductory video which explained the sugar industry then went in to the museum proper. More videos explained each step of sugar production before leading into the interactive displays. We loved climbing over the old trains and machinery; great fun. Displays glossed over the slave trade history of the industry but it was mentioned.
We spent about 90 minutes and enjoyed our visit very much. Would be a great place to take kids and even the oldies can be kids again

We spent an hour learning fascinating facts about cane farming and the sugar production industry.
This is an interesting way to spend an hour - well worth stopping off.
The centre is run by volunteers and is privately funded.
They need to spend some money on refurbishing their exterior which nearly put us off going in - as it looks closed up and a little derelict with missing letters on the signage etc - but it’s definitely not closed.
$12 entry fee per adult ($10 seniors) and a great cafe next door.
We left an additional donation because we wanted to help keep it going. The council perhaps needs to step in and help as it is a neat little tourist attraction for their town?

Visited the museum almost by accident, since it happened to be on the way to the Etty Bay beach. The museum was interesting presenting the history of Queensland and the habitation of the area. We learned something about how remarkable the sugar industury has been and still is to the area.

Nice and warm welcome by two lovely ladies, we got a lot papers with interestng informations about sugar cane and the suger industrie and a little bit of raw sugar and 3 Jelly beans each, for the museum you need max. 1 hour, but you can learn a lot about sugar cane and the harvest in the past and now, there are three little films to watch and a lot of old maschines even a steam engine to switch on and some steam locomotives, a fantastic museum, thank you

Also möchten wir mehr darüber erfahren. Wir werden von sehr sympathischen Ladies begrüßt + über den Rundgang aufgeklärt. Ein kurzer Film zum Anfang war hilfreich, die einzelnen Arbeitsgänge zu verstehen. Auf dem Rundgang vom Anpflanzen bis Export wurde alles sehr gut + eindrücklich erklärt. Über die harten Arbeitsbedingungen für die Arbeiter von damals. Dazu Erfindungen von heute weltweit genutzten Maschinen. Zum Schluss wurden uns noch eine Broschüre mit Bonbons + Rohrzucker überreicht zum Nachlesen. Mindestens 2 Sunden einplanen. Ein nettes, kühles Café + ein Postamt sind im gleichen Haus.
