Great to view the boats and ships, great to have a walk around the wharf and also to view the tall ships.

Sullivans Cove, literally the birthplace of Hobart, is the entire ‘harbour’ area between the cruise ship terminal & Hunter Street to the north, the Princes Wharf & Salamanca Place to the south. It incorporates Franklin Wharf, Brooke Street Pier, Constitution Dock and the Elizabeth Street Pier.
It’s full of restaurants, bars and a myriad of tourism operators from the seaplanes to trishaw bike tours and just about everything in between.
With tall ships, the CSRIO Antarctic division, a working crayfish port and view to Mt Wellington and across the broad Derwent River to the Tasman Bridge & the Bellerive peninsula, it’s an absolute tourist mecca and frankly, a must visit area.

The Harbourside two bedroom apartment was beautifully presented and very spacious with lovely views out of the window across the wharf. Very close to restuarants, bars, cafes. The restuarants close by are very popular and as "overseas tourists" we did struggle to get an evening walk in reservation though we did find certain restuarants (Landscapes, Black Footed Pig) tried very hard to accomodate.

The area was the first landing place and settlement in 1804 for what is now Hobart, and named for John Sullivan, Permanent Under Secretary to the Colonies by Lieutenant Governor David Collins. Somewhat confusing today as the cove is now known as Macquarie Wharf. Thankfully, the City has retained many of the historic buildings which have been repurposed instead of facing the demolition hammer. Much changed from some of the early drawings and photographs that I have sighted.
Enjoyable to stroll Macquarie Wharf and see the old buildings on one side and the piers with the repurposed and new structures on the water side. Busy during the day and abuzz with activity at night.

When it Hobart you must walk on all the amazing wharfs here. It is amazing during the day as well as night. There is a wide range of restaurants if you are feeling peckish and great views while walking. This place is so magical.

It's a great place to look at the history of Hobart, watch the beautiful boats, enjoy the water view and eat at the many restaurants and floating food trucks. Definately a great place to visit.
