All the paths are accessible, wheelchair and pram-friendly as they are wide and flat. The main route encircles Queens Park Lake and then branches off to various other parts of the park, but you can walk the whole place in around 30 minutes. However, if you have made your way here... don't do that.. it's not a race. Stop... breathe... enjoy. There are oodles of memorials and points of interest to look at throughout the park.
Early travellers heading for the goldfields met here because fresh water was available in the lagoon and Burke and Wills camped near here on their journey to cross Australia. So there is historical value to the park as well.
Also at the site is a Curator's Cottage, listed as Victoria Historic Building No. 1078. The cottage was built circa 1890.
It is an exceptionally beautiful park... walking distance to eateries, the race track, the library, the Clocktower Centre and historic churches.
I drove to the park one Sunday and loved my time exploring it. If you are in the area, put this on your list of things to do.

My husband and I visited on a quiet Sunday during Easter, as it was a place that I hadn't been to for a long time. It really is a lovely oasis in what has now become a very busy area. There was plenty of parking around it when we got there at around 11.00am, not sure how easy it is later in the day. The lake is really pretty and the surrounds are filled with many different plants and trees and you are not aware of the traffic that surrounds it. There are a couple of playgrounds for children and there is a cafe; 'Curators Collective' which has a very large menu, great service and, if the weather is not so good, an enclosed area for people to sit in. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and most definitely on a sunny day.

When Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills camped here on the first night of their trek across Australia, the lake was known as "the Lagoon." Now it is known as the Lake, and it harbours numerous waterfowl. Queens Park has a kiosk known as the Curators Collective, which adjoins the playground. It's a favourite spot for mothers with toddlers, as they can enjoy their coffee while the children play.

After a day's hard slog from Royal Park, Burke and Wills camped here on Day 1 - just 5km away. It is much better these days, with a swimming pool, lawns to picnic on, a kiosk, ducks, and a playground. Good seating and plenty of shade in the Summer heat.

Queens Park is much loved by the people of Melbourne's north-western suburbs. Chidren can play, while parents can get a coffee and catch up with friends. Because it's a park, covid restrictions are minimal.

I'm very lucky to have such a gorgeous park that is within my five km radius. It has helped very much during lockdown

We visited on a crisp Autumn day, where we were delighted by the range of trees & shrubs, as well as the ducks on the Lake. The walkways are well mainstained & the park seemed very popular with mothers & babies at the time we chose. There was a small amount of litter & lots of monuments celebrating Essendon City Council.

Queens Park is a tranquil oasis in the busy suburb of Moonee Ponds. It is bounded by Pascoe Vale Road and Mt Alexander Road, which was the track the diggers took to the goldfields. Its historical importance, however, came from its role as the first stopping place of the Burke and Wills Expedition to cross Australia from South to North. There is an obelisk commemorating this fact on the median strip opposite the bowling club. By the way, the lake was then called "the Lagoon."

It is a large park and there is so much to see and do here. Today I had a look over the bowling club and explored the Sunken Garden. Much was in flower and recent rains had added to the greenery.

Burke and Wills camped here on the first night of their overland exploring expedition. There is a monument nearby. The park is very pleasant, the lake has many water birds. There is also a kiosk selling coffee and a children's playground. The park has a modern automatic toilet

Does Queen's Park have an avocado tree? I am probably dreaming, but feel sure I saw one on the Mount Alexander Rd side? Thanks
Amanda 😀😀
