We visited these Stunning gardens during the tulip festival in late September 2022. Really enjoyed our time although some of the tulips were past their best and it was very crowded but it was a public holiday so that was to be expected. Wait for parking was approx. half an hour and the parking queue was worse by the time we left at midday. Main cafe was only open from 11 - 2 which is really disappointing on such a busy day. I recommend you take a picnic to avoid queuing.

Very disappointed to arrive to gardens being fixed, no flowers, no water in the pond, cafe closed. I bought tickets for my Mum’s 80th Birthday. We arrived in the limo and the gate went up without us even having to show our prepaid tickets. Such a disappointment to bring my Mum for a coffee and view the winter gardens. We knew there would not be any tulips but the website said there was still a lot to view in the winter months. I wrote to voice my disappointment and didn’t receive a sorry but asked who was on the gate that let you in without viewing tickets prior to entry. What the? Your more worried about that? And then told they had advertised on social media about the state of the gardens and there not being lovely things to view. I should have seen it there. Oh but I get an email the day before reminding me my tickets are booked for the next day. Nothing about the state of the place. No follow up to offer a free visit for the 5 paying guests. Nothing. Very ashamed as I had the day planned and felt totally embarrassed I asked my family to pay their share for the tickets.

We went on a perfect spring morning and enjoyed an early light lunch at Chalet Healy before walking down a paved road to the lower area, where the main rose garden, the rose pergola, pool and wisteria pergola surround a flat, grassed area surrounded by tulips.
The "train" took us to upper levels and past the waterfall and Pool of Remembrance.
Being Monday, the visitors were older, young couples with babies and some Asian independent tourists. Everyone was peaceful and quiet - no music or "entertain ment", allowing everyone to enjoy the wonderful setting, magnificent tulips and other plants in serenity.
A memorable day.

Once you find the Tulips they are beautiful but the map we were given at the gate was impossible to interpret. We had someone with us with mobility issues but we are not entitled to a disability parking sticker so we ended up parking at the wrong end of the garden. I would recommend dropping your passengers off at the entrance gate where you pay as this is the flattest walk just across a bridge to the best gardens, cafe and train..The train stop is not marked on the map so we missed out as it was fully booked by the time we found it.

A beautiful place at this time of year. The tulips are at their best. Azaleas & Camelias are in full bloom.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
For patrons with mobility problems there is a train that will take you around some of the steep places for $5
The Chalet Healy food is good. Was very busy the day we were there & we had to wait awhile for a seat & a meal.
A wonderful day out in a beautiful place.

Cafe was closed no flowers payed 30 dollars for nothing.we live on 10 acres ouer garden looks better than that.

Araluen is set in a very picturesque valley and the park contains magnificent mature trees, expansive lawns and lovely water features. A great spot for a picnic. The park's origins in the 1920s as the HQ for the Young Australia League is also a fascinating story and the restored cabins from that time were also great to see. So, I would definitely recommend a visit. At the same time, when we visited the garden beds were generally not at their best, with not a lot of flowers in bloom, and the couple of gardeners we saw seemed busy preparing the tulip beds for flowering in Spring. I suspect that is the best time to visit. The cafe in the park was closed when we visited, and looked like it had been for some time.

Araluen Botanic Park is around 35 km (20miles) south-east of the city in the Perth Hills, near Roleystone . It is a combination of natural woodland and beautifully developed gardens. Among the best-loved features of Araluen in the spring are the colourful displays of tulips, which thrive in Araluen's cool climate. The water features are also attractive. The manicred grounds make Araluen a comfortable place for a picnic. The Park has a small cafe.

Totally agree with Westoz. We were probably there on the same Monday. Coffee was impossible to obtain. In the roundhouse there should have been at least 2 people on duty serving coffee and cakes. The poor lady in there looked flat out with no time for a rest. The line was too long so we headed for the kiosk. About 30 minute wait there as it was obvious that those making coffees were also the one making them for the cafe. Left without a coffee. Ended up having an orange juice and a crepe from the 2 caravan stalls down below.
The stone steps could do with a bit of maintenance as some of the stones were missing creating a very dangerous situation for those having difficulty with steps.
Overall, we think the place needs more staff especially during their tulip festival and a little more ground maintenance.
Wont be going back. Disappointed overall.

Beautiful gardens to explore..
There is a nice little cafe to get lunch or better still just take a picnic & sit on the grass.
Allow a couple of hours and remember to take a camera.

So sorry, I didn’t see this question until now. My answer at any time of year, is to just go. They make a real effort to always have fabulous displays and plants trees and flowers all have their special time of year.
I will be taking my girlfriend here on December. Is there anything good to see during the summer season? She will be coming on the 2nd week of December.

I think this would be wonderful in the summer. Have a lovely coffee under the trees in the very peaceful and romantic cafe. The ponds will be still lovely also. Actually if its more your style, take a rug and a picnic hamper, and just enjoy the surroundings.

I am not sure that a regular bus goes to it, but there are day tours to the park which are run by various tour companies.

is train to help those wi' mobility issues. mum visiting erly 2017. difficulty getting up/dpwm strs.

Sorry, it wont help her mobility. I witnessed a lady on wheel chair. She came upto the entrance but some one had to drive that wheel chair as the roads are very steep and roads are not interconnected. Roads at different levels are have steps in between to jump onto different levels. We had trouble with our pram as well.

Hi Tony. We had coffee & savoury muffin they were very good. The other food looked nice with a good choice of dishes. There are other Cafes nearby that are also worth a visit.
