Efficient service, easy to find. Very knowledgeable crew/naturists. Quite a long journey out of harbour to see wildlife and sadly only dolphins and no whales - luck of the draw. Beware of sunburn with the breeze and take something soft for the hard seats outside. Recommend it to anyone who has 4.5-5 hours spare

I first went in November and we didn't get to see a thing (which happens with wildlife) so I got a voucher and came back in December. The only "negative" thing I have to say is that the rebooting process was a bit draining. Other than that : it was absolutely the best. We had the best crew, all the girls were very friendly and answered all of our questions, and shared tons of knowledge (shout-out to Britney and Saana!)
We got to see 5 orcas right as we started in the Auckland Harbour, probably part of a bigger pod (2 females, 2 huge males, and a baby!) and we're lucky enough to see them again when we came back. During the tour we got to see birds (gannets, shags, and a blue penguins!) and encountered a pod of communs dolphins which played with the boat for a couple of minutes. Overall really magical, can't recommend enough!

Super friendly and professional crew members, you can clearly say they love this job and the sea. Lucky enough to see two groups of dolphins and Three whales！really nice experience！

Excellent trip. Spent the first hour or so with a pod of Orcas, then crossed out to find common dolphins who bow rode with us for a while. Didn’t see any larger ehales, but that did not take away from the experiences. Would highly recommend

Tour too long for what it offers. In the end we saw only a few pods of dolphins and no whales. Honestly, I didn't even ask for a voucher to be able to come back because the thought of going out on the boat again for another 4.5 hours to see a few minutes of the dolphins bored me just the thought. Unfortunately despite the boat being really beautiful, the staff use simple spotting scopes to spot whales which makes their sighting really random. In New Zealand there are other places where the tour operator has radar to see if the tour is feasible and if the whales will be visible and maybe cancel it to schedule it again. In my opinion only for dolphins is not worth it!

We had an amazing experience on the safari, seeing an orca breach and a pod of dolphins follow the boat. The crew was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

It was an amazing experience seeing 300 dolphins up close i thoughly enjoyed the whole trip, definitely worth watching!!!

Very heartwarming to see how respectful and mindful the crew and boat are towards the animals ie. Dolphins. Crew are very passionate and enthusiastic in sharing marine life and conservation. Job well done!

Fantastic tour. Even better staff. 5 star excursion well worth it. We got to see penguins and birds and loads of dolphins. Unfortunately no whales this time.

The trip was nice but it said $260 for 2 people but ended up charging me $436. It took almost all my money. It didn't saying was US dollars until I got the receipt. It was not what I expected. I loved the boat trip though. It was very relaxing and the dolphins were beautiful 😍

That's a hard one. Our Gulf apparently has Bryde's Whales year round. Not sure about Orca but follow the Company on Facebook like I do and you'll see their updates. Looks like they see them regularly. Enjoy.

Hi, you can see penguins and whales all year round, the whales however they are more frequent during the cooler months and you have a better chance of seeing them then. The rare Pygmy Blue Whale are in our waters for the moment, which is fantastic. Check out our facebook page for regular updates.

Hi, you can bring your own water and snacks on to the boat, the only thing we do not allow is alcohol to be brought on. We also have a cafe galley on board, in which you can buy water, snacks, sandwiches, icecream, etc, if you choose to do so.

hi there, each 4.5-hour Safari in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park is a unique experience and the sightings vary, so morning or afternoon does not give a higher chance over another.
Remember we are working with wild animals in their (rather large) natural environment, and unfortunately sometimes they just do not want to be found.
However a typical Safari will encounter common dolphins and Brydes whales. Sometimes, we find sharks, orca, bottlenose dolphins, blue, humpback, minke, sei, pilot, beaked, sperm or southern right whales. Also, leopard and fur seals, turtles and manta ray.
There are 24 species of seabirds confirmed breeding in or near the Marine Park including the Northern Blue Penguin.
We are very lucky to enjoy one of the highest marine-mammal viewing rates in New Zealand and rest assured our expert crew are always working tirelessly to find you some whales and dolphins.

Whales and dolphins are sighted regularly in our waters, while humpbacks pass through on their way to and from tropical breeding grounds in the South Pacific. While we try our best there are no guarantees to see whales, as they are a wild animals and move around.

Hi Viki. We are very lucky to have the Bryde's whales living in the Hauraki Gulf year-round. The cooler months are the absolute best time of year to see them, as they tend to come in closer and be far more active. The past week we have had whales on almost every trip along with Bottlenose dolphins, Common dolphins and Orca.
One thing though - we have unfortunately just had to close off the 6th - 17th August as our boat is due for maritime survey. We'll be back in action from Saturday 18th August. Hopefully you are able to join us then!
