It is rare when you begin to look forward to visiting a place not because of how beautiful the pictures of it look, but because you are genuinely looking forward to meeting your guide. And yet, that was exactly the way we felt when we started reaching out to Mike to plan our Wellington tour. Even through email, Mike's vibrant and fun-loving personality shone through in a way that made it impossible to not become excited for our travels. And he did not disappoint once we finally did arrive in Wellington. As Mike guided us through the countryside, he kept us entertained with interesting details and stories about the area. It was clear throughout the trip that Mike knows his stuff in a way that will keep everybody regardless of age thoroughly interested. Part of our tour contained locations that were used to film Lord of the Rings, however, since most of the members of our group don't know a thing about LotR, Mike did a fantastic job of explaining to us the relevance of the area without overloading us with details (though it is clear that he definitely contains a wealth of knowledge about the subject and would be great for anybody looking to have the full LotR experience!). Overall our time with Mike was everything we hoped it would be and more, and one we will think back on fondly for years to come! Thank you Mike for making it so enjoyable!

In planning a trip for three couples to Wellington, NZ (one of our cruise ports on an Australia/New Zealand cruise), I began working with Mike over a year before our visit. Mike was readily available (via either phone or email) to plan a full day outing that allowed us to maximize our time in Wellington. He clearly explained what he viewed as the key sites/places to visit, but was always respectful of requests that we had based on information we had previously gathered. Several times, after we had "finalized" an itinerary, Mike followed-up to ensure that we remained comfortable with the plans. When Mike had an accident (broke his arm) about two weeks before our arrival, he immediately reached out to us and arranged for one of his colleagues (BJ) to guide us. Following the itinerary that we had developed with Mike, BJ proved to be an excellent guide who fit into our group of six and provided us with an amazing full-day in Wellington. His ability to integrate his own knowledge and information into the tour that we hd developed with Mike made this an unforgettable experience. We cannot thank Mike enough for creating the plan for the day and for BJ in implementing it. Anyone visiting Wellington who wants a personalized experience should definitely reach out to Mike. The very best!!!
