‪Second time to the beach. On the hottest day of the year. For some reason, Blue Skin Bay seems to have a different weather system than Dunedin. As soon as you go over the hill often clouds come in even if there is blue sky on the other side. This should not stop you from going as it is a beautiful part of the world. Took my young daughters (6/7) and they love being in the water. It is a lot safer beach as there is not a big drop off, so generally waves as smaller. The pull of the rip takes you along the beach and generally not out to the ocean, making it safer for the little ones. Might not be as good for surfing/body boarding. Walk along the headland and you will see many oystercatchers and there was a seal in the water and last time a penguin. This time unfortunately just a dead seal. There are lifeguards out usually after 12. From the car part, it is only a 5-minute walk through the dunes to the beach.‬

‪Very nice and clean freedom campground next by. Sandy beach with gentle waves. Safe for swimming. It's not crowded at all. When you are lucky you can see seals and other wildlife. Recommend for a nice weekend trip.‬

‪Warrington Beach has silver sands and a lovely long beach to walk and enjoy the view. The beach is a sand spit and separates Blueskin Bay from the Ocean. With gentle waves and a seven day per week lifeguard service during the summer, this is the safest beach to swim in Otago. With a refreshing coolness to the waters, a swim may attract the pod of Hectors Dolphins that live here. A walk around the Blue Skin Estuary will allow for a circuit walk, delivering you to the beach for your return journey. Swimming in the main bay of the estuary, is the warmest sea water you will find in this region. Cockle beds are harvested and you will see the cocklers at work at mid tide. if unsure, ask the resident lifeguards about good places to walk or swim. Great coffee and delicious ice creams are available all hours at a small kiosk by the lovely children's playground. The Domain is used by freedom campers.‬
