After just barely surviving the Gladstone to Heron Island ferry (aka the vomit rocket) I was dreading my trip back to the mainland so much that I opted to book seats on the seaplane for the return journey. It was so worth it. Our luggage weight was no problem (if it was the right weight to go over on the boat, it was fine to travel back), wading into the knee high water and climbing on board was easier than I expected, and the takeoff (from water) and landing (at the airport) was brilliant. Plus we had interesting commentary on the flight explaining the various reefs and sights as we went, so a bit of a scenic tour as well. Next time I have the option to travel by seaplane, I won't wait till I'm filled with dread about a boat ride to be forced into it - I'll choose it just because its so much fun, so fast, so easy, and not as pricey as you might think (especially when you're saving travel time and feel great on arrival!).

We were warmly received by Robyn (sp?) at the Gladstone airport. She was very informative and prepared us for the flight. Robyn and Josh (the pilot) escorted us to the plane and they graciously lingered as they helped us to take pictures. The flight with Josh was amazing. He was very informative as we traveled and the vistas of the Great Barrier Reef will stay with us forever. This is definitely a memorable life experience for us and we're so glad we did it. The landing on the water at Heron Island was smooth and the staff of Heron Island and Josh pulled the plane close to the beach where we alighted into ankle deep water. We highly recommend Australia by Seaplane for its professional and friendly service!

Had an amazing trip to Heron Island and back with this amazing team. Spoiled ourselves for out anniversary and zero regrets. The island is Stunning and getting there in an awesome sea plane meant we got there well before all the ferry passengers and for to stay for longer too. THANKS Robyn and Josh for the great memories :)

My wife and I from Canada celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in Australia decided to visit Heron Island and friends who had been here before recommended the Seaplane at least one way. Through Goway travel we booked our flight. My wife who had only been in a seaplane once before and had gotten very ill was very apprehensive. She spoke to Robyn the owner who gave her a feeling of security. We were in Australia for approximately 5 weeks and met so many wonderful people but Robyn had to be the top. She was so kind and helpful to us words cannot describe. She even made sure the staff on Heron Island helped us celebrate our anniversary. Josh our pilot did a great job in making our flight as comfortable as possible as well as explaining many interesting facts regarding the Great Barrier Reef.

I flew from Heron island back to Gladstone with Air Charter CQ. Josh was very good at calming my nerves; fabulous views of the Great Barrier Reef. Very smooth flight. Thanks so much! I'll never forget my first flight in a seaplane.

We were contemplating travelling to Heron Island by Seaplane as we were worried about the boat trip being rough on the open water and it was 30mins trip compared to 2 hours. The seaplane could leave much earlier and pick us up later than the boat which meant we had an extra 8hours in total on the island! So we read some TripAdvisor reviews (all great reviews) and booked our flights. On arrival at Gladstone Airport we were greeted by Robyn and taken down to the plane - 100mtr easy walk. Robyn is such a lovely person so friendly and helpful! We were introduced to Josh who was a great pilot! The flight over is very scenic over the Barrier Reef and very informative. After a perfect landing on crystal clear water we were greeted on the beach. A perfect start to a memorable holiday! Josh picked up us for our return trip and it was just as enjoyable - great views from the large windows in the seaplane. Again Robyn greeted us and gave us nice cold water. My husband asked where he could buy some cigarettes and low-and-behold Robyn gave him the keys to the Hummer to drive to the local shop! Could anyone be more helpful? Truly? We had a lovely conversation while waiting for him to return. If travelling to Heron Island I couldn't recommend a better way to go or a better company to deal with!

We had a fabulous flight over the islands with both sea landing and take off experiences. Josh the pilot handled the seaplane like it was part of himself, and he was informative about the region as well. We learned so much. We saw whales breaching and a new calf being lifted from the water to take an early life breathe; such an incredible experience. The reef here is teaming with wildlife.. we will visit again in turtle season to watch the mums come in to lay and then the hatchlings.. I'm hooked! Thank you Robyn and Josh what a great day!

A terrific local business located adjacent to the Gladstone Airport. Robin is the owner/manager, and we were piloted by Josh. Flight times depend on the tides. Took off from the tarmac at Gladstone and had a spectacular flight that took us from Gladstone's industrial coast over the Great Barrier Reef. The reef is something to see from the air! Josh taught us about the region's natural history along the way. We also saw a humpback whale as we approached Heron Island. We were dropped off at the beach and picked up on schedule from the same place several days later. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who feels adventurous or who, like my wife, was apprehensive about seasickness. A really good organization.

We flew from the tarmac in Gladstone to a water landing at Heron Island resort. Robin, the office manager was very helpful and John, the pilot was an extremely proficient pilot in both water and land takeoffs and landings. he scenery was stunning. Far better alternative to the ferry which is also known as the vomit comet!

Gentilezza e disponibilità dello staff con paesaggio naturalistico bellissimo e particolare. Rif lunghissimo con notevole varietà pesci Bellissimi incontri con tartarughe e sulla spiaggia schiusa delle uova con sfilata delle piccole tartarughe per raggiungere il mare. Bellissima la variazione dall’alta alla bassa marea. Spettacolare il viaggio in elicottero per raggiungere l’isola con veduta dall’alto della barriera corallina

I am worried about the following points. Do we have to pay for 4seats if there is no passenger without us(we're two)? OR is there always a fellow passenger on the flight?
Hi, all Seaplane transfers for Heron Island Resort operate on the basis of a minimum of 2 passengers. Where possible, every effort is made to accommodate all passengers on the limited number of flights available each day. Obviously all flights are dependent on the passenger numbers on the day and the payload available on each flight. Most of our Seaplane passengers tell us that had they known how good the experience was in advance, they’d have happily booked the seaplane both ways! I hope this is helpful. We are traveling with our 7 months old. Is it going to be uncomfortable or too loud for her?

Our BushHawk Seaplane is very modern, smooth, comfortable to travel in and is surprisingly quiet inside. We also provide all our passengers a headset/ear muffs to further quieten the trip. We take infants and children regularly without any problems at all.
