What a magnificent beach safe clean and easily accessible i was blown away by the sunsets whilst we stayed at the Stamford truly a superb experience and with access to cafe's and world class restaurants on the Wharf

Lovely beach, wide and long.
Facilities to change etc.
Unfortunately very shallow sea so a long walk to get a swim.
Plenty of restaurants and bars close to hand.
Great place to rest.

Glenelg, is a beach town not far from Adelaide. It has almost everything you need from restaurants, changing rooms, amusement park, beach, and volleyball courts. Once upon a time there was a lighthouse at the end of the jetty. It was destroyed by fire, rebuilt, and then washed away by a hurricane. A shorter version of the original jetty was rebuilt. An old gum tree is the site of where South Australia in 1836 was declared a British colony. You cannot miss the Pioneer Memorial towering near the Ferris wheel, a leftover from a Luma Park amusement park located in Glenelg. The memorial is a tribute to the four colonists from the United Kingdom who came ashore from the HMS Buffalo. The Beachhouse is an indoor/outdoor amusement center offering waterslides, bumper cars, and mini golf. The Gleneig Beach has white sands and shallow water ideal for swimming. Glad we stopped here

If you are catching a tram from North Terrace, you will eventually notice gum trees giving way to tall Norfolk pines. The Yorke Peninsula some hundred miles upstream soften the currents, making the waters of Glenelg perfect for families and inexperienced swimmers. Glenelg is not a museum to the body beautiful and surfers give this beach a wide berth, however, Glenelg is the perfect location for ice creams, paddle boating, sandcastles, aeroplane watching or long walks on the beach. There's plenty to do for free- there’s the jetty that juts out to the gulf, a kid friendly playground, a small museum, and a large field for those looking to kick a footy. Those that incline to pay, there’s a theme park with mini golf, water slides, and arcade games. A ride on the ferris wheel might cost a little but it affords a grand view of the gulf and the hills. For those rumbling tummies there’s plenty to graze at while in Glenelg. Penny pinchers can lookout for KFC while the gastronome can look forward to Stamford-their dining patio faces the gulf, making that high tea for one especially memorable. For al fresco dining, head towards Sammys at the marina. Stamford and Sammys not only offer the perfect luncheon opportunities, but also a "window" into the quintessential Southern lifestyle.

From Moseley Square the jetty advances out to the sunset. The sands to either side are broad and have lawns as well for after swimming relaxing. Plenty of food shops are nearby and the well made paths follow the shoreline. There are sheltered picnic areas, BBQs, and historic house to gaze on.

Glenelg has a lot to offer visitors, the pier, the restaurants and the bars and coffee shops as well as the shopping on Jetty Road. The area tops this off with a fantastic and easily accessible beach. Then there is the sunsets in the afternoon over the beach - brilliant and make sure you have a camera.

Abbiamo preso il tram da Adelaide e in mezz'ora siamo arrivati in questa piccola e graziosa località costiera. Abbiamo trascorso a Glenelg qualche ora, passeggiando sul lungomare e aspettando il tramonto. La sabbia bianca, l’oceano e il sole che scompariva all’orizzonte hanno creato una cornice incantevole e rilassante. A ridosso della spiaggia c’è un prato curatissimo con giochi per bambini e un'installazione a forma di cuore per le foto romantiche. Se si ha tempo durante una sosta ad Adelaide, consiglio di visitare questo posto.

The Glenelg Jetty juts out from the one of the most beautiful beaches in South Australia. Glenelg is the most popular beach suburbs located at the end of the Glenelg tram line that snakes from central Adelaide through the western suburbs of Adelaide. Built now of concrete after a devastating loss some years ago, it provides visitors with panoramic views of St Vincent Gulf and the Fleurieu peninsula. It is a good place for plane-spotting from the nearby Adelaide airport. Perhaps the best view though is to turn around back to the shore and see the broader panorama of the Adelaide Hills and the sweep of nearby buildings. Give yourself 2-3 hours to explore this area with its many cafes by foot. Highly recommended.

Lots of great coastal/beach walks and even a marina with surrounding restaurants/bars, a fantastic choice. Easy ride from or in to the city from here on the tram, couldnt be better

No I didn't see any on the general beach. There is however a beach resort which can be utilised.
