‪We enjoyed a very pleasant, low key tour of the old gaol facility on our last day. Very friendly volunteer staff. Worth a look.‬

‪Loved It….Definite Must-See in Albany‬

‪Definitely worth a visit when in Albany. Very reasonably priced ($6 per adult, our young children were free). Lots of information and photos available and the friendly guy who we paid at the door offered to give us a bit of a tour but we declined.

Even our 3 year old son loved it, which we weren’t expecting. He enjoyed role playing in the cells and the kitchen and laundry and actually didn’t want to leave.‬

‪Excellent value for money, very cheap. Lots to see and much more interesting than Fremantle Prison. This place, plus the free museum across the car park, plus a wander over the Brig Amity makes for a cheap and interesting visit for families. ‬

‪A well preserved gaol‬

‪A well preserved gaol and museum, with lots to see. We paid concession prices so it was only $5 for the two of us. They do scary night tours here too which would probably be fun.‬

‪Lots to see‬

‪If you are seeking information or buildings relating to convicts in Western Australia, the gaol is a must-visit venue. Well preserved. The two volunteers on duty when I was there were very helpful and friendly. Visitors receive a map of the building layout so they know the history of each room. This building complex feels and looks authentic. It is easy to picture prisoners in those small cells. Cold, miserable rooms with little or no sunlight. Congratulations to the local Albany people who maintain and offer this venue to the public. Thank you. It was wonderful to see.‬

‪A short walk from the City centre but worth it. Only $5 entrance. Thank goodness they didnt knock it down. Interesting museum and history and you must try the isolation cell in the dark!
Very helpful staff member who recommended a cafe not too far away that would still be open after 3pm ! And it was. Botanica.‬

‪Well worth a visit if you are interested in convict history...
Only $5 entry fee so it won’t break the bank & it will give you an insight into the lives of the first settlers almost 200 years ago.‬
