It is very unusual for me to give anything a 5 but I can not recommend this museum more highly. The exhibits are well presented, with so many things to see,the volunteer staff are happy ( and I do mean happy) to answer your questions, you only pay for parking and the museum is FREE. There are interactive board all the way through the museum and things to keep children busy.
There are loads of toilets and the cafe is reasonably priced with a snack style menu.
If you are in the area, you would be missing out if you didn't visit.

To what is usually a fun day out for the family and known far and wide which attracts people from all over the midlands and further. My experience was not to fun. Walking through the buildings and hangers looking at the aircraft from all ages is fantastic until reaching the Cold War building, the largest of them all and to most, arguably the most enjoyable packed full of history both vehicles and aircraft, gift shop and fun little places to sit and listen to stories coming through an audible system, again to most the highlight of the museum experience. However on this day in early September we were met outside with a quite lengthy queue…over hearing a tour guides conversation the hot weather had caused condensation and made the floor slippery to walk on. I once our turn to step inside the amazing building the group of 6 was met with floor mats leading a way across the top and a tour guide…not the best but what can you do with British weather. However due to the lack of planning the tour lasted a timely 3 minuets…a very rushed 3 minuets to cram in all that important history and take in the historic views. If informed about this whilst in the queue maybe from a sign or even at reception I’d have not queued for 25 minuets to get a 3 minuet tour of the largest building.

Very disappointed with this visit, first building was brilliant and as normal, second building we had to queue before going in which was not a problem, queue for about 10/15 minutes, again no issue there however…when it was out turn to go in, the tour started, didn’t even make it to the end of the corridor before being told our tour was being cut short due to queues getting long, the tour was limited to 3 minutes…this was very disappointing due to knowing the second building is the best and has most of the air crafts in, very disappointed in this visit, will not be going again.

The car park may seem expensive, but since entry is free and you can pack a family in the car, the £7.50 fixed price is fair. We have been many times and was glad to see a complete revamp of the first hangar, with new layout, VR experience, and removal of the tired hands-on exhibits.
Went and had pizza thinking it would be a defrosted one and was amazed at how good it was. Freshly made, proper dough, really good and better than most pizzerias.

An excellent yet unexpected find. We didn't expect it to be so big, or to be there for four hours but we had a wonderful time. All displays have descriptions which go into good detail about each item, and the language used is easily digestible. The staff were very friendly and the cafe was good and fairly priced.

Great selection of historic aircraft and the setup in the coldwar hangar is brilliant. Attended with 4 under tens and would say you need a good half a day for the 4 hangars. Hangar 1 was closed but they did selective tours and we had Pete who was incredible given the wide age range in our small group. All volunteers were really good and very knowledgeable, and if they didn't know something would find someone who did.
Downside is, we didn't manage to get in any cockpits and there arnt as many interactive exhibits as we thought there might be so with the younger kids we were struggling. Toilets are also adult height so no low sinks or urinals so get the impression the museum is aimed at older children.

I enjoyed my visit and found the exhibits very interesting, especially the 'Cold War' section which has plenty of f explanatory material for younger visitors.
The WWII display hanger had Luftwaffe planes and V1 and V2 rockets, in addition to RAF planes of course.
There's limited interactivity with the exhibits nor chances to go inside the cockpit, unlike the Vulcan at the Midlands Air Museum.
Ticketing is best done online. I bought the no-charge entry ticket and £6.50 parking online which saves a £1 and no messing about with the pay-and-display machines.
There's a reasonable shop with a range of merchandise, book and models. The tearoom is OK, but no more. I was surprised to be served a brownie in a polystyrene box rather than on a plate.
All in all, given that the only charge is for parking and the number of exhibits to see I's recommend visiting.

Absolutely brilliant!! This place is amazing. Plenty to see and do whilst educating the children at the same time. Lovely park with plenty of outdoor space. The amount of things they have to see there is brilliant. Very well sign posted and friendly staff. We'll definitely go back 😄

Superb day out. Free entry. Booked a time over website but you don't have to. Guide book a £5. Cafe and gift shop. All areas accessible with ramps and lifts. Toilets throughout the exhibits. The couple of virtual experiences are quiet busy at times. The planes are brilliantly displayed and lots to focus on. Surprised that our entire family all loved it for different reasons - stories - interactive - history. Took about 2hrs but could've spent longer. One hanger closed as Horrible History experience on over the summer. Didn't book that so can't comment. Little playground out front. All basically indoors so weather not an issue. Car park is pay and display £7ish fir all day.

A very positive first post COVID experience enjoying the company of Museum staff and volunteers alike. The signage from Cosford railway station has been improved but sadly the 15 - 18 minute walk is still not on an adopted pavement :0( Exhibition areas have been fully refreshed and my 2.5 hours visit took in hangar’s 2, 3 and 4 with a stop off at the Checkpoint cafe in hangar number 4. Very clean and tidy and the exhibition “Strike Hard, Sure: Bomber Command 1939 - 1945” was the highlight for me - thank you #TeamRAFMuseumMidlands :0)

Hi, thinking of including this on my travels in May coming back from Duxford to Scotland. Can you realistically do it justice for a few hours visit? Anyone got any idea that lives around the south of England what’s the traffic like on a Sunday Morning?

Hi,
It is really worth a visit. Entry is free but you have to pay for parking which is reasonable anyway. Café can get busy towards 13:00.
Traffic is not too bad on Sunday morning but gets busier on the M6 heading North later on Sunday afternoon.
If you time it right then you should be OK and when you get north of Preston it gets lighter.
Hope you enjoy the visit - we did a few weeks ago.

Hi The RAF Museum postal address is Cosford, Shifnal Shropshire for sat navs the postcode is TF11 8UP. Not all systems recognise the postcode, so WV7 3EU is an alternative then follow the signs.
If arriving by train, Cosford is the nearest station on the Birmingham to Shrewsbury line. The Museum is then a 10-15 minute walk alongside the road. Not all trains stop at Cosford so check with rail providers before travelling, thanks

Can anyone tell me how much the car park is for the museum and if there are disabled parking spaces close to it.

The site is all on one level except in the Cold War museum building where there is a lift. The disabled car parking spaces are very close to the entrance. £3 for 3 hours £4 for all day parking

Hang on a sec....this is a FREE museum with excellent parking and set at a reasonable cost in my opinion. I suppose some people think that they're 'special'...lol

We were more than delighted with this being a free museum and cheap parking - excellent place to visit for all ages and abilities! I didnt see any wheelchairs available but the museum is on the whole wheelchair friendly
