Ruined by commercialism indeed!
A money making business. Rude marshalling guys who would not allow us to take photos. Loudly told us off and said keep moving. Why else do people pay to go to a cherry blossom festival For photos! For memories!
I feel the council should get feedback and allocate an hour. Out of the 45mins we got today, it was raining and therefore our efforts to dress up and enjoy the atmosphere was already dampened. All I can hear now is "keep moving" (loud rude marshalls) 😒

Sadly the quiet, placid gardens and cherry blossom have been over run by commercialism. Plus now you're corralled around the garden in a horde of people. Certain areas closed off. Only walk in one direction. Constantly reminded to move on. The food stalls make it look cheap and over managed.

The gardens are always good to see, although Australian animals section is not currently available.
The colourful peacock was walking around.
Australian plants section is worth a walk around - Billabong atmospheric.
Food trucks this week are much Japanese influenced.
It was a.lovely day.
Queueing at the beginning of the Japanese Gardens entrance was tiresome: Maybe too many were ticketed for each timeslot.
Queues operated throughout that walk.

We have been wanting to visit these Gardens for some time as it had been shown on TV a while ago , so when we were visiting our Son in Doonside we decided to go . It was a Sunday Morning and we arrive a few minutes before they opened at 10 am . We were quite surprised that they charge for admission on Weekends , This doesn't make any sense as it is Free for the rest of the Week . Pensioners cost $6 .
We were given a Map to follow and proceeded to the Japanese Gardens , which was quite nice but not in the same league as the Chinese Garden of Friendship at Darling Harbor . We continue around the whole of the Gardens and the thing that really stood out was the Poor state of the Gardens , Lots of Weeds , very little in the way of Plant identification . I always thought that one purpose of Botanical Gardens was to Educate People , so these Gardens Fail in that regard . Also they are very Run Down , most of the Lawns needed Mowing and Weeding . The Rose Garden was Terrible , with Rose bushes so spaced out they looked Pathetic . The Council should have a good look at this and compare this to other Gardens that don't Charge Admission but look magnificent . The Gardens in Albury spring to mind . I don't think we will bother coming back .

This botanical garden is a treasure hidden in the western suburbs of Sydney.
Not many know how beautiful it is.
Best to go there when is the cherry blossom season.

What a suburban treasure. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and include birds and animals. Make the effort to visit. You won't be disappointed.

Tucked away in Auburn West at the end of Chiswick Street, this local council-run Botanic Gardens is not widely known outside the precinct and environs of western Sydney, but it’s well worth a gander. Nominal entry charge (free entry on the week day we visited!). Two gardens – a Japanese rock garden and a formal one. The central lake is the stand-out feature, also an Olympic-length Reflection Pool. Droves of migratory bird life are attracted to ABG, two resident peacocks, and a lot of large rocks scattered around the gardens. The distinctly underwhelming Duck River runs through the gardens.

No need to go to Japan. Auburn Botanic Gardens is Japan!
The entrance ticket is $10. The cherry blossom is so nice and there is some stall selling Japanese food.

This was an unexpected bonus to our Sydney trip. The gardens and lakes are so lovely and an oasis in the middle of suburbia. I would love to see the gardens in full bloomph so will definitely return. The animal enclosure was a real bonus and great to get up close to wallaby, kangaroo, emu and peacocks. What a great place and well done to the council ( Cumberland I believe )for providing such a glorious place for everyone to enjoy.

The Auburn Botanic Gardens are absolutely breathtaking! Offering picturesque gardens without the need to travel to the city. It covers a large area consisting of a Japanese Garden, Scented Garden, a path in tribute to our soldiers who served in WWII, Fauna Reserve and a small rainforest.
The Botanic Gardens are perfect for all occasions. Whether you’re riding solo, as a couple or the whole family, the gardens are mesmerising, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere to visitors. Highly recommend a visit!

Hi there, grateful if you can help me with a guideline. I am planning to visit Sydney in Sept. May I know is the Cherry Blossom in the Auburn Botanic Garden still blooming at this time. Or do I have to make a visit during the Cherry Blossom Festival in the 2 weeks in August 2019?
Thank you in advance.

How do I reach the gardens by public transport,i.e. train from the city to Auburn station, then what's next?

During Cherry Blossom week there were special buses. I'm not sure but would suggest you look up State Tranist buses or ring Auburn Council. There may be local buses which pass the gates.
I would like to visit the Gardens but my husband has a disability .
How big is the Japanese Gardens please and are there many steps?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, this garden is not that big and doesn't have too many steps.
