The gallery is a little unpaid , but worth seeing . The toppled equestrian statue , the cafe Lucerna and its beautiful and large counter. Sitting at the gallery windows sipping a drink or coffee is very relaxing. You can also eat local dishes.

These galleries I learned to appreciate in Paris and also in the Netherlands. They are the original "shoppings". where rainy and cold days you could go Shopping too. This gallery perhaps is not very splendor but has its charm. It also has a de cerny sculpture of a horse hanging from the ceiling head down. interesting.

As you walk near the Vaclav square - you will find several cover gallerias and arcades - these are very nice when the weather is pour , so you can move around inside a warm dry place.
One of the most interesting - and very beautiful - arcades is the Lucerna arcade.
Decorations inside are very beautiful, inspired of the architecture of the late 19th early 20th century.
Also inside this arcade you shall find the upside down statue of King Vaclav riding a dead horse (this has also a very interesting story attached to it - check out the review to it, or look it up on the web , it is really interesting).
When we were visiting Prague , the weather was kind of cold - so we decided to take a walk through the arcade - plus I wanted to show my girlfriend the king on the dead horse , after we've seen the Vaclav monument in the square.
So when you are in the Vaclav square, remember this small detour - it is very interesting, with some very nice architectural features - and if you are visiting close to Christmas time, there will be also some seasonal decorations also.

I got lost in this mess quite by accident. There are several such shopping alleys inside the block in Prague within huge blocks. The hallways breathe the magic of the past world, the building is about 100 years old. During Christmas week, the place is very quiet. In the large lobby, at least a movie theater, a cafe-restaurant and the world's "most daring" equestrian statue. Just brave the open doors and hallways on the street into the blocks, you never know what you'll find!

Given the location of our hotel in Prague, we crossed this "passage" daily during our stay.
Obviously we were all initially struck by David Černý's sculpture, depicting Saint Wenceslas riding a horse turned upside down and hanging from the ceiling by its legs, clearly dead. And we wondered in how many European cities such an irreverent work would be accepted in a central and symbolic spot. Therefore the work made me appreciate the eccentric and non-conformist inclination of the Prague people.
Subsequently, I began to appreciate the passage as a whole, for the lively cultural activity that takes place there, especially visible in the evening, when the public entering or leaving cinemas, theatres, bars and restaurants fills the arcade. And I also appreciated architectural features such as that of the "Rotunda" (where Černý's horse is located), an Art Deco masterpiece (which I personally love very much).
After some further time, I deepened my knowledge, ascertaining that the Lucerna Palace - in which the Gallery is located - is all together a representative work of Art Deco architecture, which also has many masterpieces in Prague.

This place is like stepping back in time, although it is looking a little tired, it is definitely worth popping in and having a quick look around. You can see the upside down horse and stop for a coffee here. It is just off Wenceslas Square.

A historic gallery, which needs a good refresh, before being highlighted for its curiosities, such as the upside-down horse.

It was a nice place, but empty and uninviting when we saw it. The space is lovely, has a small cafe. But there was much else to do.

Passaggio Lucerna collega vari ambienti sotto l'omonimo palazzo in Piazza Venceslao. . Tutto, tranne il cavallo...

Classic building. Inside seems cozy lighting and the hanging piano / upside down hanging horse is interesting to take selfie. To go up one need to take the ticket. Located is by the side alley of W Square.

It's generally taken to be a parody of the statue in Wenceslas Square. But I guess other interpretations are possible.
