‪Unfortunately, All traces of Oscar Shindlers factory has been deliberately erased. Whilst the office block remains, unfortunately all of its authenticity has been stripped. This is called cultural vandalism, generally prison sentences can be imposed for this sort of thing. They should have sympathetically restored the office block and used the factory for the museum.‬

‪This follows on from my earlier review about Oskar’s Factory and reading some other reviews to see how mine compared!
One said their guide had said they don’t show the movie about Oskar…they DO! and don’t miss it, it’s on a repeating loop of around 25 minutes. Sit and watch it completely, very factual about the man himself.
Monday the entrance is free but get there early and be prepared to wait. We got there at 9.15 for 10am opening, got in 10.15.
No need for a guide as every exhibit has written script in three languages, but be well prepared for a three hour visit as there is a lot to see and read.
A must visit!‬

‪I was 50/50 to go or not to go. I finally went and I am grateful that I made the right decision. Excellent and at the same time creepy experience in a place that has been turned into a themed museum for the Second World War. I went on a Monday when, unbeknownst to me, the ticket was free, although it is quite cheap anyway. (Under €10). Make sure to go at least half an hour before opening to avoid long queues and enjoy a quieter tour of the place.‬

‪No tickets purchased in advance. We walked there from our hotel. There wasn't a long line outside so we thought it would be our turn soon. Unfortunately, people kept coming past us who had bought tickets in advance. We heard they had 80 tickets left. This should have worked, but we had already been at the front of the line baking in the sun for half an hour and they indicated that they were on a break. Pause??? At 10:30 am? While the museum closes at 1:00 PM. Waited a while longer, but this was without success. Finally turned around and left. Very bad how it is all arranged.‬

‪We booked a guided tour directly with the museum and travelled there by train which was convenient and not expensive. During payment for the online booking the menu changed to Polish and I had to resort to Google translate. The tour was interesting and the guide was informative. Inside it is fairly narrow and it is not easy for a group to stand together. It was also busy with a lot of visitors not part of the guided tour trying to squeeze past. At the entrance there are two doors saying entrance and exit. We stood in the queue at the entrance which was about 40m long and it took half an hour before we were allowed in. We only just made the time for the guided tour. Some others in the group joined 15 minutes late because of the queue. If you already have your ticket DO NOT stand in the queue. You are supposed to enter through the exit! There is no instructions outside, neither on the ticket or website.‬

‪I don’t use these words lightly when I say this was the worst museum experience we’ve ever had, and I would actively recommend people do something else to learn about the fascinating and sad Jewish history of Krakow in WW2 - there are far better options available.
The most obvious misnomer for most would be that the museum is really about WW2 in Krakow, Schindler plays a very small part of the story despite its location, but we were aware of this before going in so that wasn’t the issue.
The biggest hindrance that any guest would experience is the overcrowding and the horrendous layout. Every part of the museum is a narrow corridor of displays, meaning that you are constantly in the way of someone. Our tour group was 24 people, which was far too many for the space. We were continually told to move closer to see parts of the exhibit, which blocked the path for other guests, but were told off for moving too far away to get out of their way. We were the first group of the day, and were persistently pressured to keep moving by groups behind us. Thankfully we had headphones to hear the guide, otherwise you wouldn’t have stood a chance. If you do decide to brave this museum, sadly you’d have to do it with a guide otherwise I don’t think you’d get to see or understand most of it due to tour groups standing in the way.
Secondly, I struggle to see how the museum could hold itself out as being accessible. There was a lift at the start and in the middle of the experience, but one was not offered at the end before a huge flight of stairs. The corridors as already mentioned are very narrow, so you’d struggle to get through with a wheelchair and other guests, and several floors in the exhibit are cobble, spongey, or gravel without any other option to get through.
Lastly, and this was the kicker for us, every single member of staff, without exception, was incredibly rude. And this wasn’t a cultural thing, we didn’t experience this anywhere else in Poland, but we felt actively unwelcome in this museum, and specifically hostile towards us bringing our toddler. We opted for this museum specifically because it had notes online that it would accept children (and even had a baby change toilet), so we were taken aback by the reception. Our tour guide, Agnieszka, was the worst of all and incredibly arrogant. At one point early in the tour, our son spotted the tram that was in one of the rooms and started chatting about it (not screaming or shouting). The guide stopped her speech to single us out and ‘make him be quiet, I am working here’, which was needlessly embarassing, and also to suggest that we weren’t already trying to do so, which we were. From this point, my wife felt she had no choice but to leave the tour with our son (unfortunately not long after the start of the tour), and struggled to find her way out of the confusing layout to sit in the cafe (where she was also unwelcome), leaving me pushing a stroller around. The guide continued to be rude even without children around, telling me to ‘move, I need this space’ so she could point at part of the exhibit. Her tour also ran for 2 hours, not the 1.5 hours as advertised.
At the end of the day, there is nothing in this museum that you can’t hear on the better free walking tour of the Jewish Quarter that we did before it (Krakow Explorers - highly recommended), and you would be better off not visiting.‬

‪One of the worst tours I have ever done.
Let me clarify - the museum itself was very good (although you might expect more about Schindler and his factory). Also, the tour guide was a young lady trying her best in not her native tongue, although she was not blameless.
We went on a English tour at a 4pm slot and why it was so bad is as follows:
1. Very poor organisation at the start. Too many people milling about and pushing past to get in. They understandably restrict numbers as it is fairly compact inside but this was a shambles at the start.
2. As I mentioned there is not a huge amount of room inside each room and the number allowed on the tour was at least twice as many as should have been. This just smacks of the museum trying to maximise their revenue.
3. There were other tours, 2 German and one for french students happening at virtually the same time. On more than one occasion two groups were trying to share the same space and it seemed the tour guides almost had to shout over each other. We didn't hear everything our guide said and we weren't alone.
4. Our tour guide spoke very fast - because she had a 90 minute deadline for the tour. As I said, English wasn't her mother tongue and although her English was good, for those on the tour who weren't native speakers it would have been very difficult.
5. As a result of being rushed, cajoled and sometimes seemingly physically pushed through by the group behind many of the exhibits could not be viewed properly.

They need to invest in some technology and headphones and reduce the numbers on the tours in my opinion.

We would have been better off not doing a tour but taking our time individually - albeit that would have been tricky to avoid the tour groups!‬

‪The description says that this is a museum of a man who saved many Jews during the Second World War and it was an aluminum plant; in fact, they made a museum praising Nazism. Those who are close to this will certainly like it. It was interesting to see only 2 rooms from the past, the rest was completely unpleasant and off topic.‬

‪This is not a tour of the factory that houses Schindler's company, rather it is a museum inside the old office building. The factory building is still there but was stripped of machinery at the end of the war.

What makes it worth it - it provides a fantastic history of Krakow both before and during the war. The focus is not just on the ghetto but on the city and how everyone was affected. As the museum continues it provides more information about Schindler but I would hazard that only 20% or so is dedicated to him and his work.

The museum runs across a number of levels and several small rooms, refers to photos, documents, film archives and memorabilia. It is well prepared and well presented with a couple of sections specifically for the Schindler Jews.

What is harder is actually getting in if not on a prearranged tour, the queue is long and the staff not exactly beaming with help and welcome. A common theme we have found sadly. The museum is best served by a tour but they dominate the place and it is too easy to get stuck behind a group of 20 odd people or worse, two tour groups.

It was however well worth the trip. It wasn't quite what we expected but that is ok. It was very good nonetheless and well worth the zl36 entrance fee. ‬
