We hired Giovanni as our personal photo guide during our stay in Cuba in spring 2023. He is an excellent guide who knows all the places, from stunning photographic landscapes through "hidden spots" in the cities up to our immersion in local restaurants. With his personal passion for Cuba, he could give us a lot of additional background information about local history and geography to "complete the picture" and he does not hesitate to refer to other professionals, too. Giovanni speaks several languages, among others he is totally fluent in English. Highly recommended!
And on top of the above, he is extremely friendly with a fantastic sense of humor.

Magnífico profesional muy atento y amable, si vais de viaje a Cuba y pasáis por Trinidad, recomiendo contratar una visita con él, merece la pena

We are so glad we found Gio on the internet in a country where tourist info is so limited and things are over complicated. We spent a lovely afternoon visiting the beautiful sugar valley with Gio in a classic car. He is super knowledgable and willing to share, with a wonderful, genuine and kind spirit. we have learned a lot about the history of Cuba, the people of Cuba, the 'REAL' Cuba. we enjoyed every minutes of the tour. it was a pitty we had to leave the next day, otherwise we will definitely book a tour with Gio exploring Trinidad. we would love to see Gio again when we return in the future. Those stories he shared inspire us a lot. We sincerely wish a better future for him, his family and Cuban people. - Yan & Becky

Gio was a fantastic tour guide. He brought passion and expertise to every place he brought us in Trinidad. With him, we were able to see local neighborhoods and meet locals that was a very unique experience. Highly recommend going on one of his tours.

Gio was a great tour guide! He gave the group I was with a unique experience and took us to cool sights we could not have gotten to without him. We walked around cool neighborhoods, went ziplining, went to a Santeria temple, and much more. He is very passionate about Trinidad!

Good vibes, very knowledgeable and passionate about Cuba and Trinidad in particular. He also gave great photography tips and suggested some great shots in Trinidad.

Para mí fue muy agradable también el pasar contigo y tus amigos unas pocas horas mostrándoles una parte de mi ciudad y contándoles los detalles más sobresalientes de la historia y la cultura de mi hermoso país.Brasil y Cuba tienen muchísimas cosas en común así que tuvimos un muy placentero intercambio cultural.
Muchas gracias por permitirme pasar ese tiempo tan agradable mientras les serví como guía local 📸🤗‼️

Giovanni is a cool guy, a great photographer and a very good tour guide.
We had him showing us the inner side of Trinidad with visits that are not only the one recommended by the guide books. He showed us the city with the view that a local have, giving us tips and letting us meet his local friends.
On top of that he also helped us to get a taxi to playa Ancon and organize the tour the next day to Caburní. I really recommend his tour.

We have just returned from a wonderful two week vacation in the Trinidad area of Cuba. We have been to Cuba many times, but this was our first experience of the south central part of the island. The key to our great experience was Gio of Gio's Cuba Photo Tours. Gio took us on many trips to Trinidad, the Escambray mountains, the Sugar Mill Valley, and a farm that was making charcoal as has been done for many years in Cuba.
We are part of a Canadian group called Together for Cuba, who helps visitors bring medical supplies to Cuba in suitcases. We had two suitcases full of medical supplies that Gio helped us take to a local Cuban doctor in Trinidad, who is going to share what we brought with a number of medical colleagues. Gio made the connection and helped us deliver personally what we brought for medical assistance to the Cuban people. Without Gio, this connection would not have happened. We found Gio very knowledgeable about Cuban history, culture, and challenges. He was very honest, straightforward, and personable, developing trips around our interests and capabilities. He is extremely well connected to local people and institutions and can easily call on any resources that we needed for our trip. In addition to our visit with a local doctor and bringing medical supplies, a highlight for us was Gio's connecting us with a local farmer who was beginning to make charcoal. With Gio's help, we visited the farm three times and experienced the whole charcoal making process, from its beginning to collecting the finished product. We will never forget these experiences with the fascinating art of charcoal making.
We were referred to Gio by another guide we have used in the north part of Cuba and connected easily with him on What'sApp. With the help of WhatsAPP, we were able to plan several of our trips with Gio before we left Canada. He was very responsive in communicating with us, which made planning our trips with him relatively easy and worry free. He was able to stay in touch with us very well throughout our two weeks through his WhatsApp site.
We would highly recommend Gio for anyone who wants to learn abut Cuban history, culture, way of life, and current challenges. He is very easy to work with, is very client-centred, has excellent English language skills, and knows the whole south part of Cuba intimately. When you hire Gio for a trip, he also hires a driver to provide your transportation. On all our trips, we paid the driver directly for his services. Having Gio for our guide meant we received a wonderful appreciation of Cuban life and culture at a very challenging time in their history. Gio made an extremely important qualitative difference to our trip and for his contribution to our lives we are extremely thankful.

Great, incredible, fantastic, pick your superlative and you’ll still be halfway there! Gio or Choli - like his friends call him - is an extremely knowledgable guide who will adapt the tour to you and what you want to see, which is a massive difference between the usual tours you can have. In our case there were only the 2 of us (we felt very lucky!) and we wanted to feel the Trinidad vibe as much as possible from a food, drink, and ways of life perspective while staying off the beaten path. With that said Choli shared his amazing knowledge of the history of Trinidad and Cuba overall. His own personal story is eye-opening (no spoiler). Choli brought us to a delicious and cheap local restaurant (Doña Clara), and provided us with plenty additional recommendations for the rest of our trip which all turned out to be great. We had such a good time during our morning tour that we asked to continue the tour with him for the rest of the day during which he brought us to the real « Trinidad », the one behind the beautiful old center, and showed us how the locals truly live. Again, this was eye-opening and we were able to make beautiful encounters with people he knows like the poet Luis Martinez, or his uncle. Choli knows Trinidad and its people to an extent that he is able to tell you the story of almost every inhabitant of the city. You can also ask whatever you want/need (cigars, restaurants, bars, culture, pictures spot, local tips, you name it) and he will bring you to the right place/person - in our case all the above went beyond our expectations. We also really appreciated Choli’s full honesty and transparency during the tour but also regarding his recommendations (you’ll understand). He is truly a man of culture you can trust and it was great conversing with him. I will not hesitate a second before recommending him to friends, or family visiting Trinidad. Good luck my friend, and thank you so much for everything, our stay would not have been the same without you.

At Gio's Cuba Photo Tours we feel very happy and grateful every time we receive a review of Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, the highest rating on Tripadvisor 🤗‼️
However, this particular review fills us with with a huge satisfaction as it describes in detail what Gio wants each of his guests to experience when using his services as a local guide 🤗‼️

Hi - I am visiting Trinidad with two friends in June and looking for a tour. We like doing activities e.g. I saw hiking, waterfalls, ziplining. We would like to see all the sites and get great views of Trinidad. How does the booking work, payment and plan of the tour e.g. how long are the tours, what activities are included, what sites etc. Thanks. Natasha
