My friends and I have been going here for years spending time in different areas of the resort. So I guess you could say I know this lake extremely well.
The best thing about it is that it's semi-private. People who own property up there don't have to worry about being accosted by weekenders.
The lake is beautiful year-round but the water is rather cold. Never getting above 72 degrees. Unless, I love the place

We came here all the time as kids and it was always fun and crowd free. Socal media has brought too much attention to the rock. They should blow it up. Cushman would be better of without it.

A nice area except for the thousands that of drunken, road blocking, animal house crowds around party rock that have created so many problems the entire road and area has been closed for the rest of the summer.

do not go anywhere near the cliff or party rock as they call it. It major traffic and young people drinking and fighting. Walking back down the cliff 8-17-2020, there were several fights. People were getting jumped and a male fired his gun off three times. I was with three kids and feared for our safety . cops arrived with their guns drawn and worked on clearing the areas. If you want to live, I dont recommend this place. my 19 year old heard my story and told me how she and her friend were jumped by 8 girls at the cliff. its sad because the location is beautiful. However they allow the people to drink there by the side of the road and no good comes of it. If you don’t believe me google lake cushman news. There is cars being driven into the lake , drownings and shootings.

Water has been quite low this summer compared to many years previous. The “day time” recreation area had plenty of picnic tables, grilling areas and fun to go around. With the water being so low, quite a few islands/sandbars popped up, which all the kids thought was the best thing LOL! The water was definitely chilly, but certainly not unbearable.
It took a bit to get down to the recreation area, but it’s absolutely worth it!

I hesitate to say how much we loved our time at Lake Cushman for fear it will become crowded and lose its charm. But we did love it. The water is crystal clear. It is cold, but such a wonderful place for swimming, kayaking, and lazing about.

Siempre he sido media temersona de los lagos, pero fue imposible no sucumbir ante el espectacular Lake Cushman. El recorrido en carro a través del Parque Nacional Olympic es muy gentil y el momento cumbren llega a la hora de un buen chapuzon en este hermoso lago. Recomiendo ampliamente visitar el parque y el lago.

We had a wonderful time at Lake Cushman! We spent 4 days in the water, whether it be at Lake Cushman or up on the Staircase Trail jumping into ICE cold pools along the hike. The kids and adults agreed it is one of the most beautiful lakes we've ever encountered. I want to lie and say it sucked, but that would be selfish.
The Skokomish North Camp ground did leave a bit to be desired. If they invested in new bathrooms with real showers and a few more toilets it would be super great. We would go back but rent a house nearby instead.

We had the chance to hit the lake after a long day hiking in the Staircase area of the NP on a hot muggy day. it was awesome!

Beautiful! We enjoyed the view and kept going to Staircase Rapids. The hiking there is gorgeous and the water is crystal clear. Great hike it you have kiddo or if you're an adult. You can swim along the loop as well. I have a hybrid, so I was nervous to take it up the road, but it did just fine. So basically any other car can drive that road if my car did. :)

It is very close. Staircase loop overlooks the lake.
