‪We visited the National Protrait Gallery within this impressive musuem, but will return to see the rest of its treasures.
We took our time with the only full collection outside the White House of portraits of all U.S. Presidents, reading the notes next to each painting. Worth a visit for the art of portraiture alone (artists include Norman Rockwell, Robert Anderson, Margaret Lindsay Williams, Kehinde Wiley), it was a broad learning experience for three generations visiting together. ‬

‪A beautiful relaxing gallery… the court yard offers a nice place to take a break… there were a few closed exhibits such as the contemporary on the second floor… it was a little confusing at times with the Nation Portrait Gallery sharing the space.‬

‪American Artistic expression - a must see in DC.‬

‪This place has 3 floors that contain many artifacts of American art. I was not expecting to see so many artistic works of various disciplines. Would recommend to take a good 4-5 hrs to inspect all the aspects of the exhibits. There is also a small cafe inside when you will need a break. Did I mention that the entrance is free like most museums in DC.‬

‪满很多展览品，去的时候有几个地方没有开，但还是开了的感觉还不错，没有全部看完，因为带着小孩子想走，我自己还是很感兴趣的‬

‪This could be so very much better. They did have a few important pieces of American art but a disappoint for our National museum. Crystal Bridge is so much better for American art. ‬

‪I want to clear up confusion. This museum is physically connected to The National Portrait Gallery. This museum is administratively connected to the Renwick Gallery.

Right now it has a large exhibit by self-taught artists that made my visit!‬

‪not to be missed if you like art OR history‬

‪our favorite of all the Smithsonian museums, including the National Portrait Gallery that occupies alternating wings and floors of this historic building, which is a draw itself. The captions of each piece of art work are superb -- brings history and individuals alive -- and the special exhibits are always engaging. A coffee or snack in the atrium is one of the best break places in town. We come here every time we're in DC, which is several times a year every year‬

‪American way of Life ! Ce musée très intéressant permet de découvrir l’histoire des États-Unis par les guerres, la culture et sa population. À voir, le chapeau de Lincoln entre autres !super belle partie très émouvante sur la guerre de sécession et expo sur les premières dames.‬

‪Lots of different types of art even some I wonder how it got included. The presidential portraits were great. Some of the sculptures were inspirational. Some of the landscape paintings looked like photographs especially the special Olympics painting.‬
