We purchased tix and walked over from our hotel which was only ten minutes away. It took us a bit to find it thinking it would be a stone building and not the modern glass one we discovered. Once inside you go down stairs to the ticket desk where our tix didn’t seem to matter much. It was quiet and their were two floors and a small gift shop where price tags weren’t the norm. The ground floor was where we spent almost three hours. Lots to read and discover from old wanted posters to lots of interactive detective exhibits. Old cops and robbers toys and a movie section as well as current info from different police depts around the country. I’d recommend as an add on museum to anyone with a little more time to spend in dc. There’s actually lots more that this museum could integrate into its exhibitions but it seems space may be an issue. Try to go if you can.

Museum was closed due to COVID, so I spent a little bit of time walking through the memorial.
It has a central area and then two shaded side corridors, where the names of those who have served are engraved into the stone. At the front is also a large book, where you can see all the names of those who have served and died.
I have no connection to any police force, so I don't hold any sentimentality - but the memorial is just very well designed with shaded areas and a serene feel.

This memorial was simple yet elegant. The walls were short and sturdy, yet smooth and detailed, obviously created with care. I thought they were an apt decision for the law enforcement memorial. Not super showy, but the walls put off a solid strength that could not be shaken. The memorial is in a circle, seemingly symbolizing the unity of law enforcement, the names small but extremely easy to read carved into the walls, making each name seem like a small part of the larger whole, yet a clear, distinct part that can easily be separated from the rest of you find a name you are looking for. It put off a peaceful vibe. There is a smaller curved cement bench on the inside of the of the sidewalk that is actually surprisingly comfortable to sit on if you want to take a moment, and sitting there gives off the feeling that you are inside the steadfast circle of the fallen, like they are embracing you. There is a nice sized sidewalk running between the wall and the bench, allowing others to comfortably pass by without crowding the people on the bench or people waking the other direction, but at the same time the bench is close enough to the wall and the names are written clearly enough that if you are sitting on the bench you can still read the names. I personally went to see a specific name, and it was a pleasant, peaceful atmosphere and a comfortable place to rest. They did a really good job with the LEO memorial. However, if you are going to see something large scale, and spectacular as a sightseeing expedition, without knowing anyone on the wall, this might not be for you. The charm of this memorial is more a subtle, graceful tribute to the backbone of our nation.

I was met at the wall by a wonderful security guard named Clarence. He literally stayed with me and helped me locate my fallen brothers. Clarence even gave me some wonderful memorabilia. After leaving the wall I was escorted across the street by Clarence who took me into the Museum gift shop. Thank you for building such a nice memorial DC. The lions were also moving. Must see of you are a Police Officer.

A somber and respectful memorial. It's between the Law Enforcement Museum and the National Building Museum. Names are added every year...sadly.

Very nice museum. It was not at all busy when we visited. I think that’s because it has a fee for admission. The kids would like it, plenty of interactive exhibits.

Off the path. Took us a bit to find it as Siri led us on wild goose chase. hee hee Museum downstairs. We were on sit down scooters but were allowed to park in and plug in to charge while we walked around. Fun place.

This memorial honors the many law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It's a peaceful area with several walls of names. There is a catalog to locate specific names on the memorial. It's conveniently located at Judiciary Square metro.

The outdoor memorial is nice and free. Good respect to the fallen
The museum is NOT! After going though security you come to a desk where it is 17.56 for police officers and twenty dollars for everyone else. They even charge "Law Enforcement Surviors" $17.00.
A slap in the face since it is supposed to be about honoring the deceased who gave the ultimate sacrifice. I was about to turn around but felt bad.
The place looks like a Police Trade show. You can play with a squad car (something you can do for free at your local police department). There are these games and such kids can play but most cops and families would find it way over priced. They have cops in movies and media, comic books and a few real artifacts.
All of the other museums in DC are free. I was excited to go being a cop for 24 years but then shelled out 90 bucks for this. I guess it would be worth it if you have 8-13 year old boys.
Go see the declaration of independence and bill of rights and explain to your family why thats important! If you are a police family this place doesn't do you justice.

My name is Michael McInnis. I am a retired San Antonio Police Detective. My son's name is on The Wall. My question is, who determines whose name is placed on the wall.
I'm sure it's NLEOM and not the Chief of Police in San Antonio. I'm investigating why one of our officers, Nathan Murray, who was shot in 2003 and died in 2015. It is my belief Nathan Murray died because of his wounds. A movement was made to have him added to the Police Memorial Wall in San Antonio but was declined by Chief William McManus. Murray had suffered a stroke and then cancer. The stroke was caused by a bullet wound in the neck. I'm not sure if the cancer was the result of his injuries. I don't believe the chief has the authority to yay or nay who gets to be added to The Wall.
Thank you.

Michael, I am the wife of a Retired Buffalo Police Officer. We were visiting the NLEO Memorial Museum and wrote a review. I cannot answer your questions about names placed at the Memorial. I suggest you contact your local, state and national politicians about your fellow officer and having his name placed on the NLEOM. Best to you.

Essentially, NO!! Just on-street metered parking.
However, the Memorial is also the location of the Metrorail Judiciary Square station. I'd take teh subway from where you are staying outside the city directly to the memorial. Free transfer between the various Metrorail lines.
