This is a great place for eats and drinks. Food is presented in a beautiful way, and service was excellent. Good wine selection.

The bartender's were good listeners which is key...
The sangría is to die for! Mind you, I have had sangría in Spain, Miami etc. and this one left me wanting more.

Had a wedding in the area, we all had drinks here on a Friday night. Bar was given notice well in advance. Had one bartender and a hotel manager on duty. Bartender was probably on line to make her month in tips but attitude and service might have cost that.
Plus, while our group was willing to stay, they closed at 11pm?

Great little spot to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The staff was great and the food was very good.

I debated about whether to downgrade my rating of the hotel itself due to this "restaurant", but since Bar Rouge markets itself both as a bar and as a restaurant serving your typical breakfast lunch and dinner meals, I had to do it here. We visited in November and had a pretty good stay at the hotel, which I've already reviewed. Our experience at the "restaurant" for breakfast was terrible, to say the least...
First off, up front, the food was actually pretty good, and the tea we had was delicious. Apart from that, I can't find much else positive to say about our experience. We went down for breakfast and granted, we arrived near the tail end of the breakfast service, so I was prepared to take things for what they were, but what we experienced was absolutely no excuse. Let me say first that Hamid, our server, did everything he could to make sure that things went smoothly. Unfortunately, Rouge supplied Hamid with a poor amount of help and assistance, and he was forced to do everything himself. The guy tried hard, but there were at least 5 other parties of people being waited on besides us, so there was no way he could possibly handle everything himself, and everyone suffered accordingly.
We walked in, and weren't greeted by anyone and had to ask where we were allowed to sit. We were told that we could sit anywhere, but that was a huge problem in itself. Every single table was either occupied or absolutely filthy with food and plates from previous customers (with the exception of one, the one we chose). This almost forced us to walk away outright, but we were starving. Unfortunately, the one we chose happened to be located under a huge air conditioning vent that blasted freezing air on us the entire time (in November, in DC no less), which was not great at all. We had to locate a side table and grab our own silverware and napkins, had to wipe off our own table, and due to Hamid being so preoccupied with other customers, had to wait 15 minutes until we were helped. We ordered quickly and politely despite the unpleasantness, and like I said before, Hamid did his best to help us out and take care of us to the best of his ability. Our food arrived after a 30 minute wait, and as I said before, at least after all this it tasted pretty good. It also took us a while to get helped when we were finished and ready to receive our check and pay. This all contributed to a pretty unpleasant dining experience.
The stay at the hotel was great (for the most part), and our meal was good, but Hotel Rouge really did Hamid a disservice by not getting him some help at breakfast. I imagine that some of his tips might have been a bit lower than normal due to the other unsatisfied customers, but I made sure to let him know that we appreciated his attempts at helping everyone out even though he was completely overwhelmed. Hotel Rouge, Bar Rouge, GET YOUR SERVERS SOME HELP!!! Your customer service and customer feedback suffer as a result of the service (or lack thereof...)

In Dupont Circle, the bar is located to the left of the Hotel Rouge lobby, I stopped here to pick up some colleagues. Outside, there are nine, not one, nine Aphrodite statues. So from the bar you see all their bums from the window – pretty funny. For the 4th of July, they were all dressed up in red, white and blue hats and boas. Next time I’m in town I may have to stay at this hotel for its lovely sense of humor alone. Love that. The bar is totally accessible as is the restroom. The appetizers we had (truffle fries and muscles) were delicious. FINALLY a bartender who knows how to make a margarita with good tequila and lime juice (NOT sour mix). The bar staff were completely amendable to any of our questions/comments or special requests, which was such a relief after deplorable service almost everywhere else in D.C. My colleagues who stayed here really loved it. Visit for the great ambiance, stay for a great sleep.

We booked this hotel through Priceline - the price we paid 50.00/night is great for this place, I'm not sure if I'd pay USD 134.00 - USD 226.00 average nightly rate.
The hotel is for sure differs from the others. We had great, clean room, I think coffee makers would be very beneficial to have in the room. In general we were happy with the room - our windows were facing the back of the building so noise from 16th street didn't bother us at all (i saw complaint in someone else's review). It was very quiet room.
The only thing I wasn't ok with is with the notes that guests leave for cleanning people " . Notes are provided by hotel you know the ones to hang on the door! "Clean Up my mess" or " Go Away" - it's very disrespectful. Cleaners are people not slaves and deserve to be treated with decency and appreciation. Helen
