Un edificio que cruza una calle con un gran arco, con una arquitectura interesante de muchos ornamentos que la hace atractiva, se encuentra en el centro histórico, nos toco ver como por debajo construían las alfombras de aserrín para las procesiones de Semana Santa. Vale la pena hacer una parada en este lugar.

Guatemala's post office is reestablishing its services after a 3 year period stop. The building is unique in its architectural style and its arch is an iconic picture of Guatemala's downtown. Many prossesions cross that Arch f during lent and its quite close to central park. I recommend visiting the street of the Post office.

While visiting the historic center of Ciudad de Guatemala, this awesome building will certainly catch your attention. This is the "Palacio de Correos", the main post office of the country's capital city. It was designed by Guatemalan architect and engineer Rafael Pérez de León and was inaugurated on November 10, 1940. It is clearly inspired by the famous "Arco de Santa Catalina" in Antigua (Guatemala) and represents the perfect fusion of 1930-1940's neo colonial and art deco styles. The monumental arch over 12ª Calle, in Zone 1, is one of the most pictured tourist attractions of Ciudad de Guatemala. A great frame for selfies! No wonder, due to its beauty and architectural richness, the "Edificio de Correos Central" was appointed as a Guatemalan National Cultural Heritage Site! Unmissable! Enjoy!

In the Spring of 2020, I was on a business trip to Guatemala City. I took the opportunity to explore the architecture and culture of Zones 1, 4, and 10. They did not disappoint!
If you start with Zine 1, don't miss the Edificio de Correos. Within its walls you will find student artwork on display, an impromptu orchestral rehearsal, ballet dancers at practice, and pristine grounds!
If you can't take a self guided tour, take a snapshot of the historical arch. This magnificent edifice provides a stunning backdrop for selfies.

This is an historical building in Guatemala, which use to be the mail headquarters in the city .. they have a lot of cultural activities now.

estilo arquitectónico que se ha conservado con el pasar del tiempo que da belleza ornamental al centro histórico desde donde se pueden tomar hermosas fotografías y apreciar de su arquitectura en todo el edificio que lo conforma.

Ce très beau Palais de la poste (plus de service de la poste) abrite également le centre culturel métropolitain.

Aunque sin tiempo para detenerse, al final de la calle, cuando vas por la principal en un callejón perpendicular se aprecia una bonita imagen. En su día debió estar muy concurrido

Construido en la primera mitad del siglo XX este edificio destinado a Correos y Telégrafos tiene su elemento distintivo sin duda alguna en el Arco que hace las veces de puente peatonal sobre la calle 12, que le ha convertido en un lugar emblemático de la Ciudad de Guatemala y precisamente en razón de ello es que lo incluimos durante nuestro paseo por la Ciudad.

Hola Yessenia! La verdad es que yo estuve recientemente en la oficina de correos central precisamente para preguntar acerca de un paquete que me enviaron desde Floria, pero desafortunadamente hay un caos terible y nadie proporciona información exacta. Probablemente si tenemos suerte eventualmente nos llegarán nuestros paquetes. Esperemos que así sea. Buena suerte y perdón por no poder dar una respuesta concreta y exacta a la pregunta porque yo no trabajo en esa oficina y estoy en la misma situación. Saludos.
