A really good air museum. I have been in air museums all over the world and considering the size of the country and the air force, this is very good. The diversity of types is exceptional. Some nice displays and historic information. A few exhibits do need some TLC but many are immaculate. Only criticism is that the outdoor exhibits are often lacking any labelling /information. Make sure you don't miss the very impressive gate guardians on the other side of the main road at the academy/aviation park.

The airforce museum is an exiting place to visit. Lots of planes from different ages. They are in good condition.
A fine presentation of Thailands airforce.
Extra plus for the skytrain goes to the place. And free entrance.

I went there with my son. It is the excellent place to learn the history of Royal Thai Air Force. It's free to go inside. It showed many kinds of planes. The security guard is very kind and helpful. My son loved to explore the whole museum. He took hundreds of photos there.

The museum is located at the back side of Don Mueang International Airport, the first airport in Thailand back in the early 20th century. It is well designed to give visitors a comprehensive timeline of the Royal Thai Air Force from the modest beginning in 1910s to a modern division of the army nowadays. It hosts a grand collection of aircrafts, many of which are scaled down for display purpose. This museum is definitely not a very popular destination in Bangkok, but even if you're not an aviation enthusiast, it still worths a brief visit and gain some historical knowledge, especially if you come to or leave Thailand by DMK Airport.
It's open to the public, and there's no entrance fee, but there are several donation boxes at buildings' gateways. Most of the buildings are well air conditioned except the hangar displaying helicopters that might be pretty hot during daytime. There are still some unpopular display areas that bear no English translation. There's even a library, but I haven't visited it. On my visit, there was some local families bringing their children along, but the kids behaved in a good manner as they kept the generally silent atmosphere that impressed me, as back in my home country it's a bad experience for visitors being bothered by noisy kids in museums.
I got to the museum by GrabBike (Win), a Southeast Asian Uber-like service that you can find in many Southeast Asian cities. They were pretty affordable, not to mention that taking a scooter ride with local drivers was an interesting experience, and familiar experience too, as I come from SE Asia. There's a skystrain station (BTS station, pale green line) near the main entrance.

One of the best museums I’ve been to in a while. Lots of interesting exhibits and some are rare. Free entry too. It’s worth visiting. Plan for 2-4 hours if you want to explore fully. Also right by the BTS station. So easy and cheap to get too. The station is named after the museum so also easy to find

Great experience, especially for kids or those who loves plane and its history in Thai Airforce.
Planes in exhibition hall are well maintained. There are more of them outdoor, in the yard, and in the building in the back.
FYI, this place has no entrance fee.

For those with much time but little money. Bus 503 from democracy monument will take there for 25baht thankfully its aircon but it's a long trip. Ask the conductor when to get off. Have the name written down or show your phone. If you look out of the left side of the bus on the way , after a long ride and almost there you will see Ying Charoen market which is worth a look on the way back.
The museum is brilliant so many aircraft to see up close and some you can go inside. The is a small cafe there too.

As an ex Air Force chappy it is excellent to see such an array of aircraft in relatively good nick which one can sit in, walk round and interact with. Free entrance makes this a real hidden gem.

You need to get a taxi. The museum is on the other side of the runway to the airport so there's no way to cut across you have to drive right around the airport, you can't walk! It's about 20 mins by taxi. You should arrange to have the taxi wait or some back at a set time otherwise you have to try and flag one down on the street (we asked the staff at the museum thinking they could call a cab but they just stood on the street and waved one down - it took about 15mins)
