This nostalgic site closed in May 2018. One of the original Siam Square classic cinemas-- along with the Scala and Siam theaters.

There is nothing to see here at this point. Siam Square and the three movie theaters; Scala, Siam, and Lido were the three places offered top quality movies. I was in BKK near Siam Square this time and the place is closed. Sad but accept the reality but I got pletnty of time to explore the new Siam Sqaure andd other shopping malls around the area.

ได้ดู Tonight at Romance Theater สัปดาห์สุดท้ายของการฉายลาโรง วัน อ. 29 พ.ค. 61 ก่อนจะปิด วันที่ 31 พ.ค. 61 รู้สึกใจหาย เพราะเป็นโรงที่ฉายหนังนอกกระแส ได้ไปดูหนังญี่ปุ่นบ่อยๆ ราคาไม่แพงแต่อยู่กลางกรุง ไม่อยากให้ปิดเลยจริงๆ ค่ะ คิดถึงบรรยากาศเก่าๆ

When I visited Bangkok for the first time about 30 years. There werent a lost of cinemas at that time but it had the best location. Tickets were 20 baht. RIP.

Lido cinema ini cukup besar dan ramai penonton. Harga tiket juga terjangkau. Mudah beli nya dan antri ketika masuk nonton pun cepat dan nyaman. Kursi cinema besar dan layar lebar.

Scala and Lido have long been theatres for movie lovers. Not many screens, nor modern like others. But packed with quality movies. Well chosen. Vintage and retro.

This place was great. There was an old style ticket booth with two attendants. There was a popcorn machine and a sweet counter. The decor of the place looks fab with a retro 50's kind of vibe. Complete with chrome, glass and tiled floors. Best of all were the uniforms on the ushers. On the day I visited they were dressed in day-glo yellow dinner jackets complete with bow ties. The seats were comfortable the picture and sound quality were fine. As other travellers have mentioned the patrons are well behaved.There was no one talking or texting. All the better to enjoy the film. Highly recommended and lots of fun. If this place were to close it would be a terrible loss. Make sure you go!

This could be the only heather in downtown that offer cheap ticket and the atmosphere is more like old style theatre, have more choices for movie around the world compare to big shopping mall.

Le Lido et la Scala sont des pépites au cœur de Bangkok pour les cinéphiles. La programmation y est un peu plus diversifiée que sur les deux grands groupes de cinémas que sont Major et SF.
Le Lido propose régulièrement des films japonais. Vérifiez bien toutefois que les sous-titres sont aussi disponibles en anglais (a moins d’être bilingue en thaï évidemment).
Les deux cinémas sont situes près du BTS (métro aérien) Siam, juste après le Watson et en face de Siam Center. La place est comprise entre 140 et 160thb. Malheureusement, le Lido est amené a fermer ses portes en 2018...

It's hard to find a cheap place to watch a movie in Bangkok but Lido and Scala are the places for you to go. The price is so cheap when compared to tickets to other cinemas in Paragon, Central World, or Emquartier. And because it is cheap, if the movie was bad, you won't feel like you wasted a whole ton of cash. Although it doesn't look all that great, what counts is the movie, right? There are also less advertising so you don't have to watch half an hour worth of advertisements. And the sound, seats, and picture quality isn't bad at all. Pretty entertaining and comfortable. And the best part? (For me at least) Cheap popcorn!
