A nice offering of decent out-of-the way craft beers, especially those on tap. Still, the prices are so outrageously out of line that you feel you're taken for a fool patronizing this place.

I've been to Hair of the Dog a few times, and my friends and I used to enjoy coming there a lot. The two most notable parts of a visit here are the beer itself and the owner.
The first part is the beer. The good thing is that many of them are stronger than others that you'd find in Thailand, which I like. But the problem is the price is incredibly expensive considering that they serve maybe 2/3 of a full beer. But, if you like a strong beer and are willing to pay a lot for it, you might enjoy it nonetheless
But the absolute worst part of this place---and the reason I will not come back anymore---is it's owner.
If you walk in and see him, turn around and walk out and save yourself a terrible time and the experience of shockingly unprofessional behavior. You'll recognize a youngish bald white guy who wears sunglasses indoors at night. Just turn around and leave, trust me.
I've never actually met a bar owner who was just so openly hostile toward paying customers for no discernible justifiable reason. Both times I've encountered him he's gotten obnoxious drunk and just cut in and torn down anyone's good time. It's hard to describe, it's like this guy is so insecure that he feels the need to constantly walk around and remind everyone it's "his bar" and pick fights with customers to prove to himself and the people around him that he's macho. Both times I've made the mistake of meeting a date there this owner has cut in and made them incredibly uncomfortable. The dude seriously acts like he owns everyone and everything inside "his bar."
So, to improve, I'd say Hair of the Dog really needs to increase it's value for the drinks, either a proportionally larger size or lower price, but absolutely do not allow your owner to be around customers. This guy has no business or talent for working in customer service and represents everything that a bar owner or staff member should not be.

I liked this place. Friendly staff, good selection of quality beer with a nice mix of different styles though understand you're going to pay a lot ($8-10 per beer). Still, this is Thailand so it's either drink here or drink something worse at any other place.

Offer a large range of bottles and cans and a small selection of draft beers

This place was recommended to me by a couple that I know. The beer was good, but extremely expensive compared to the rest of the country.
The atmosphere is rather gloomy and better to go to with the guys, rather than bringing your girlfriend as I did. A small place. Grey walls with a straight jacket and mask hanging on the wall. And an IV rack right next to where we were sitting. And only four other guests when we were there.
I'm sorry, but next time I go to a place with a wide assortment of beer I will go somewhere else.

I visited Hair of the Dog with two acquaintances recently, and while the bar looks charming and inviting, the service and products on hand certainly are not. I paid $15AUD for a whisky glass (200ml) of flat beer, which may I add was one of the cheapest options on tap. It stated 270 baht for the drink but the man told me 315 as it did not include taxes. I think this is highly misleading, but is sadly not the worst part. So I gave him a 1000 baht note which he handed to the lady working the register. She gave the money back to him which he then handed to me. Now I expected 685 baht back if my math were correct, but I only received 585 baht back. So I asked the man "Is this the correct change?" then without seeing the amount or either of us saying how short it was, the lady did an "oh whoops silly me! " laugh and produced 100 baht without any consultation. Not only is the price of the beer misleading, the beer not stored correctly as it comes out flat, which is already a rip off, but the lady literally tried to rip me off a further 100 baht before playing it off as a joke. My two acquaintances were then served after me, not sure on what beer they wanted they asked for a taster. They were given around 20ml of beer to split, to try the beer to see if they wanted it, of which around 75% was foamy head. As I had already purchased a beer they felt obligated to buy a beer each. Luckily for them the lady behind the counter did not try to illegally acquire 100 extra baht per drink. Meaning they only had to pay $15AUD per 200ml for their drink, or $75AUD per litre! Talk about value! We watched as their beer was being poured, it was clearly the absolute dregs of the keg because it took at least 30 seconds per pint and came out flat also. There were two other patrons in the bar who were slowly nursing their beers. They had the consigned look of defeat on their faces as if they had accepted their fate of being overcharged for warm lifeless beer. I would rather drink a FULL pint of tap water from Thailand than drink another drink from Hair of the Dog, even if it were complimentary. DO NOT COME HERE

Intimidating American owner at the bar allowing us no time to study the menu before bellowing out 'what do you guys like?'. What I like is a bit of discretion and time to think and choose before forking out more money than anywhere else in Bangkok for a smaller glass than anywhere else in Bangkok for a craft beer.
The already expensive drinks have a ++ next to the price which means tax is added making then extortionate. Heavy metal music adding to a distinctly non-cosy feel.
Avoid this and their other place in Prom Pong unless you like the louder and more brash style of atmosphere and service.
We headed over to Hoppy Hours in Prakanom where the drinks are much cheaper and in large glasses. Service too by the Thai lady owner more subtle and intelligent, great music and cracking atmosphere. There are dozens of other great craft beer places too.

I was looking forward to my first visit here, but went away thinking I probably wouldn't bother coming back.
The beers are expensive (even more so than Mikkeller), particularly when the prices are quoted before service and sales tax (so an Evil Twin Imperial Stout comes out at nearly 520 THB for a 200ml glass), but that is largely due to the Thai government's huge import duites on foreign beer.
What was more unexpected, and certainly something the owners could do something about, was the total lack of knowledge of the two Thai girls who were manning the bar at 5.30pm on a Saturday afternoon. I asked if they had any gose, and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. (Fortunately I could spy one in the fridge behind them).
They had no idea what was in the fridge, and the owners haven't made it easy for them by not organising the fridge by beer type as an decent pub or bottleshop should do. Consequently it was pretty much impossible to know what other hidden delights there might have been if the tap list didn't interest you.
As others have mentioned the bar has a morgue/hospital vibe going. Certainly the atmosphere was on point, there being about five other people in there, all bent over their phones. When there were breaks in the heavy metal music trap the silence was palpable.
Lastly, while the morgue/hospital thing is cute, having no toilet seat in the toilet might be authentic, but it isn't very pleasant for your female customers.

The beer was ok but terrible customer service for a bar that charges a lot of money for a small beer. It’s also the only place we’ve visited where they charge taxes on top of the displayed price. Avoid.

They have a great selection of craft beer here. Staff are friendly and the bar is very unique looking. They also play excellent music and show films on the TV. Recommended!
