Spent the morning exploring this market. The market is jammed packed with all sorts of goods from clothing, dried foods, shoes etc..
Had a lot of fun exploring plan to go back tomorrow.
Tip - gets quite hot there so go early to enjoy exploring the market.

A “must” visit for those who wish to taste local products, including deep-fried pork skin and Thai sausages. We like the stall at the corner specializing in deep-fried pork skin, which were freshly packed here. We found these to be very tasty, especially the deep fried pork skin with pork. See photos. It sells other foodstuffs too. We bought 2,500 bahts worth of foodstuff from this stall.

If you're looking for northern specialities like 'kep Mu' or special sausages, this is the place. Always crowded - for the produce is fresh.

Busy market. Lots to see.especially if you want to buy dried herbal tea. I wish I could bring more back. Many dried fruit and local produce

Like some reviewers had mentioned, this is more of a traditional market with lots of dried goods and dried fruit for tourists to buy back home. This was probably made for locals, but as tourism took off, you can increasingly see more stall catering to tourists - which explains why almost every stall in the middle area sells the same things. For the more local experience, walk the perimeter, inside and outside the building. At one corner you'll see fresh seafood sold in pails and also fresh meat and vegetables. But these are far and beyond. What you will see the most are dried fruits, tea and snacks on level 1 and ethnic products, clothes and bags on level 2. If you are interested, there is also a small section selling dried shrimps, mushrooms, etc. There are also some fruit and food stalls littered around, Generally, prices are very cheap here!
Do also come back during the night (seemed to be at its peak around 8, 9ish) as the roads outside the building transforms itself into a night market - mostly food stalls but lots to see and try! Similarly, prices are cheap. There's a guy selling coconut water and also jelly in a small cup. Buy that! It is really good - bought the jelly two nights in a row!
PS. One evening when i went it poured heavily. Surprisingly, some stall holders were still out there doing business!

Marché local où visiblement il est possible de trouver de tout. De nombreux stands sont dédiés aux offrandes ou aux épices diverses et variées. Les étals dédiés au textile ne sont pas en reste
Nous avons déjeuné au sous sol ou plusieurs gargottes proposent des plats tour à fait appréciables.
Mérite s'y passer un peu de temps lorsque on aime les belles couleurs et découvrir ses produits dont on ne connait pas l utilité !!!

Visit Warorot Market (though it's spelt Waroros on ride hailing app Grab, as well as the signage at the market) and Ton Lam Yai Market on the same day, they're right next to each other. Both are about the same. I was expecting a lively market selling fresh produce, meat, and everyday necessities but instead found a quiet market selling mostly dried and preserved food, and cheap clothing and toiletries on the second floor. If you're looking for dried local products, like dried mangoes and strawberries, then this is the place for you (although I bought the same items at Central Shopping Mall Airport). There's also a rather sad looking food court in the basement. I found the variety of products offered interesting, but wondered why every stall was selling the same thing.

I'm interested in buying cotton and silk fabric at Warorot market. (In Chiang Mai right now.) I see from the photos that fabrics are on the back and side streets. Can you recommend any particular shops that have good cotton and silk?

For silk, you need to go San Kamphaeng Road. Its a stretch of a few miles right outside the city but technically in Chiang Mai. It's sort of a highway; you can't walk it - you need a driver (We hired a driver for the day). The Road has 3 silk stores and many other better quality crafts (lacquer, wood etc.). They have both fabric and finished items. You can get a suit made. Most stores also have the factory where the goods are made which we thought were interesting. We went to all 3 stores to purchase silk for my daughter. We did not find any decent quality silk in Chiang Mai, other than than on San Kamphaeng Road. The local markets have low end fabrics and they did not appear to be silk, even when it was advertised as silk. Good luck.

Warorot Market is only open during the day. It is great for street food! The city is a shuk so basically there is shopping/market all over. I recommend Saturday night Weekend market AND the Sunday night Weekend market (different streets for each market). They had a more crafts (not a lot) than other typical markets. We bought a hand painted canvas we are getting framed and some other items. The "night market" which is every night (by Le Meredien hotel and Hard Rock Cafe) is mostly nick nacks.

hi! it's only open during the day. At night it closes at 18:00 PM. In the evening you can go to the Night Bazar or if it's Saturday to the Saturday night market walking street or likewise ln Sunday.

No need to pre-arrange transportation from airport. There are several counters to purchase travel by taxie, one directly where you pick up luggage and others soon as you pass through glass doors into airport. All offering pretty much the same prices. (150 baht- max. 200) Tell them which hotel/guesthouse where you will stay or they can help you with booking one, within your budget.
It's that easy. Enjoy !
