Cherngtalay Seafood & Local Food Festival 2022 ( 19 - 21 Feb 2022)
An amazing Festival near Surin Beach. The market is on from 16:00 till 22:00. Lots of stalls, selling delicious foods and treats (Halal Food as well). To add to the ambience, some great entertainment with local bands and shows on the massive stage area.
This is an annual festival, but there are always stalls at the Surin Beach, during the rest of the year.

Nice are with many amenities. Elephant sanctuary / blue tree / wall climb / food / off the track cafes / beach.... good place for family and couples

We went there on a Sunday for dinner from Surin Beach - 10 min by taxi. The market is busy with locals buying their dinner; which is a really good indication of how good the food was. There’s many chicken and pork dishes on offer, but we are not meat eaters, so only tried the seafood and salads.
We had marinated fish pieces and large mushroom stalks on skewers, which was delicious. The papaya salad stalls had long queues as they make it to order, depending on spiceness and additives (egg), was well worth the wait.
From a small stall we had very spicy steamed fish cakes in banana leaf (looks like a muffin) and small fish cakes with cues which was yum.
Another meal which after trying we went and got more, was a seafood salad. All cooked as ordered and absolutely delish. The only negative, hence only 4/5 is the lack of seating.

Well worth a visit if you're staying in the Surin Beach area. This is a small, twice weekly night market dealing in the usual goods and a wide range of fresh and cooked fast food. Unfortunately none of the stalls have seating areas, so if you want to try something, its eat on the go. There is in cool ice cream stall thats makes up your ice cream to order, try the Mango and Oreo mix. If driving, you can park in the nearby Tesco car park.

Cherngtalay markets are on Soi Bang Tao 2 which is the road that runs off the main Bang Tao road alongside Tesco Lotus.
These local markets are on 2 nights a week Mondays and Thursdays and start around 4pm. The rest of the time you will just see buffalo grazing around there. A lot of the stall holders are the same people from Phuket Weekend Markets so you will find plenty of fresh food and meats, clothing, jewelry, handmade products, delicious snacks and everything is very cheap.
So if you hear there are no authentic markets in Phuket, do not believe it as these type of markets are scattered all over Phuket Island.
There are actually 3 local markets in this area but the one I am writing about is the biggest one and they are about a 15 to 20 minute drive from Patong depending on traffic.
These local markets are on 2 nights a week Mondays and Thursdays and start around 4pm. The rest of the time you will just see buffalo grazing around there. Cherngtalay includes seven or eight Laguna hotels and resorts, Canal Vilagge and the new Boat Avenue plus the best residential community in Phuket such as Laguna Homes, Laguna Links and Laguna Fairways. Its sea front is the beautiful Bang Tao Bay with 6km of arc-shaped beach.
A half day trip provides a refreshing contrast to the crowded Patong. Start at Boat Avenue at lunchtime at Sirinyas and enjoy some of the best lab gai, tom yum kung and fried rice on the island. Have a pedicure and manicure at the Nailedit. Walk around the shops and visit the Villa Market and marvel at the prices of imported fruit - highest in the world! Buy a bikini or a dress at the shopping Mall.
Take a taxi (in front of the Villa Market) to the Canal village. Walk around and take the water ferry trip that provides a beautiful view of all the hotels. Finally get down at the Dusit hotel. Walk on the beach to Angsana and have a drink at the Xana beach club. Relax and wait for one of the best sunsets in the world. Walk back to the Dusit and have an early dinner at the stunningly beautiful Trattoria Italian restaurant.

We stayed at one of the villas at Sai Taan. The villa market was just a short walk. The supermarket was well stocked and there were plenty of good places to have a massage. I had a super foot massage. There are also lots of shops as well as eating places so one can try something new everyday. We liked Big Boss best. Their Thai food is great and service really fast. The only negative is that the beach is nowhere close.
