Just great! ...what the people here are doing; ...how lovable each individual animal is being treated here; ...the atmosphere among each other in the team; ...the facility itself, which has been designed with a lot of dedication... We could list so much more!
We were very enriched by our stay here as volunteers. This organization is definitely worth a visit!

We only found out about this the day before we flew home which we were devastated about. They allowed us to do one day volunteering and despite the unbearable heat, it was amazing to spend the day there and see how it's ran.
We walked 22 dogs in the day and it was so well organised. You are treated so well as a volunteer and you can truly see how this place saves so many lives.

Thank you for spending your final day in Phuket volunteering with us at Soi Dog Foundation.
Thanks to you, an extra 22 dogs got exercise, play time and cuddles that day! Time with the volunteers is so precious to the dogs here, as they are all healing from physical or emotional trauma that resulted in them living at the shelter.

Soi Dog Sanctuary is doing exceptional work and is well worth a visit. The tours are free and they do a phenomenal job of educating the public on the incredible work they are doing but also allowing you to cuddle and pet the beautiful dogs and cats they are sheltering. I would highly recommend a visit if you are an animal lover or not!

Started by a British couple and a Dutch lady, Soi Dog is eye-openingly well-run animal foundation that clearly cares for its animals, evidenced by the trust and fondness the many dogs there have for the Soi Dog staff. We spent two days volunteering and were entrusted with walking dogs, on-leash, off-leash, in clean, grassy enclosures, or a purpose built pool area. They run an incredible operation including what has been a highly successful CNVR - catch, neuter, vaccinate, return - program not just in Phuket but other parts of Thailand too. They have an onsite hospital to care for dogs, there are many sections housing dogs (and cats) according to age, (special) needs, etc. and they do their utmost to nurture dogs so that they may return to their community, or be adopted, or be assimilated on-site. I saw videos of adopting families who spoke of how clean, clearly loved, the animals were when they received their new pet at the other end of their plane journey. It was inspiring and heart-warming to see the kindness and humane-ness these animals are experiencing after clearly going through hard lives, as seen in their lack of one or both eyes, one leg, or bearing scars. Volunteering at Soi Dog is a meaningful form of tourism, and also a wonderful opportunity to meet and connect with other traveller-volunteers from far-flung parts of the world. I highly recommend it. It will enrich your holiday in Phuket. And you will, like us, want to return to Phuket and Soi Dog. Big shout out to the amazing staff and full-time volunteers at Soi Dog!

Without the support of kind people like you, we could not continue to help so many dogs and cats in need.
While living here at the shelter the dogs and cats need to spend time exercising, playing and socialising with volunteers. This enriches their lives while they heal from the traumas that resulted in them living here, and increases their chances of being adopted.
Thank you for encouraging others to volunteer. With over 1,400 dogs and over 400 cats here now, we are in need of more volunteers than ever!

Fabulous place. Can't express how impressed I was. It's a huge operation as described by our excellent tour guide Sylvia. We spent a very enjoyable few hours here first learning about their work with a tour of the facility and then time in the puppy enclosure and cat enclosure. We were allowed as much time as we wanted to play with the animals. My son was in his element! Thank you.

Absolutely beautiful sanctuary for dogs and cats. All staff and volunteers were friendly and welcoming. You can see the care and passion they have for the animals. I especially enjoyed sitting and playing with the cats. Soi Dogs is helping dogs and cats across Thailand and SEA. The impact of this charity is really felt,and left me emotional.

Great experience, we took a guided tour in which they explained the birth of the foundation and its current work with the goals achieved so far. They made us meet dogs and cats their guests. It is also possible to volunteer by helping the facility in the care of dogs.

Having fought and won against the dog meat trade in Thailand, these guys are now doing amazing work for the population of street dogs all over the country. 1 million animals neutered and vaccinated in 20years. Keep going!!!!

I have been wanting to visit for awhile and finally made it out for the afternoon tour. The tour was informative and well done. They were able to answer any questions. After the tour you get to pet puppies and kitties. This was definitely worth the visit!

Hi there - we want to pop in and see the work you do but we will likely only have 1.5 hours before we fly as you don’t open until 9 - you are not far from the airport and we are staying on the other side of Phuket. Will that be long enough?

Hello, does anyone know anything about a group called 'Dog Meat Survivor' or 'Dog Meat Savior?' (They have used both names, and they called themselves the 'Humane Society' for a short time. They don't reply to my queries, and I find their customer service phone contact number rather odd. I worry some groups are preying on people who want to help save these dogs and simply scamming people out of their donations. I've contacted other animal welfare groups with this question. No one has responded. Can anyone shed any light on any of these groups?

We are always in need of a variety of items. We have over 1,000 dogs and 350 cats, so things like leads, toys and poo bags are always very much appreciated!

I am wondering, when one US dollar is worth 30 baht why 29 us dollars only cares for one dog for one month? Seem like the exchange rate would go further to care for the animals.

Dear Robin,
$29 is the amount to sponsor a dog here at Soi Dog Foundation. For this, you receive regular updates throughout the year from your sponsor dog, including photos and updates. The information on the sponsor page on our website also states that your monthly subscription fee also goes not only towards your sponsor dog but also towards helping other animals under the care of Soi Dog.

I am wondering who pays the air fares (& a volunteer escorting animal?) for the many (dogs) that are adopted by Canadians & USA people. I know they are fantastic animal parents! But this ads alot to the costs of adoption. Have been doing alot of reading re your rescue and considering a bequest in my will when I rewrite it shortly. Keep up your great work. You obviously do an amazing job - with lots .... & lots .... of free spay/neutering. The only way we are going to make any dent in the unwanted/homeless/stray animal problem the world over. Not enough (PRIVATE VETS) perform enough of these services - FOR FREE (or just a few $$$ to cover medications/equipment used.) Best wishes to you all. Victoria Pinkerton.

Firstly, thank you so much for considering Soi Dog in your legacy plans. This is a truly wonderful gesture.
And, to answer your question about flight volunteers and adopted animals - The travel costs of animals from Soi Dog and travelling overseas are covered by the adopter. This includes the excess baggage fee that the animals travel under, the travel crate, and any administrative fees ( dictated by the airline and import/export authorities). The costs associated with the flight volunteer (airline tickets etc) are covered by the flight volunteer themselves. We hope this helps! Many thanks.

Who pays for all the flights for animals and does a volunteer escort each animal? I understand an animal could not be sent on such a long flight (typically Thailand to USA or Canada) alone - particularly an animal who has known ill-treatment and has 'issues' with people - poor little things. It is wonderful you have so many international odopters & seem to place so many dogs to Canada etc. Bless you all for the work you do in saving & loving so many animals. I am certainly seriously considering a bequest in my will to Soi Dog foundation.
