Located amongst crowded place in Armenian street or Armenitola of Dhaka city, this glorious church built by Armenian settlers around 250 years back ie.1781(need to confirm) is standing in its present glory. I am seeing a church with cemetery very close by. I am surprised to see two gravestones inside the church. I am yet to figure out the reason, why the church is so closely located to its cemetery. We need to literally walk over the tombs to enter church. A must visit place in Dhaka to remember the rich culture it portrayed centuries ago...

Sicherlich sollte man hier stoppen und sich die Geschichte der Armenier erarbeiten. Etwas schlicht und für den Erhalt sollte man etwas Geld spenden

This is the place I love to visit yr after yr. Its always in my memory where i can memorize my school mates and my families some of them r alive some of them r dead but I remember the day I was with them.

Armenians started coming to Dhaka for business purposes in the eighteenth century. They traded salt-leather-cloth and jute and bought zamindari and in a short time they became an influential group in Dhaka. The area where the Armenians began to live became known as Armanitola. Then the company came to the end of the period and started reading business. And during the Pakistan period the Armenian bus in Dhaka almost went up. With the death of Nefiet Stefan, a resident of Narayanganj in 1991, the last source of Armenian relations with Dhaka was lost.
Unlike other foreign merchant groups, the Armenians did not isolate themselves. Social interactions with the local people were common among the Armenians.

Its a 250 years old church in Dhaka. When Armenian came Bangla and start business. The church tells their story. Line of grave and epitaf remind them. Visit and discover more.

A good friend took us here last year. You step out of the hustle and bustle of the street into this quiet and serene other world. The church is only used a couple of times each year as I believe the Armenian population in Dhaka has all but disappeared. The church and cemetery are beautifully kept. A lot of history is recorded on the many gravestones.

This church in Old Dhaka would not stand out if it were anywhere in Europe. But, in Old Dhaka, it becomes a standout. A lovely mustard yellow and white, the interior is a bit plain. It's more the story this church tells of the Armenian exodus to Bangladesh. The gravestones are particularly interesting.

Didn't expect to see this but really lovely and peaceful church. Well kept grounds and interesting to visit the various religious sites of Bangladesh.

Not really. As far as I know there is no parking facility but however you can park your car accordingly nearby asking the locals. This is what we did as well. Hope this helps. Thanks!

within 10 am - 5 Pm, u can easily visit this place. But Sunday is the best time I guess.
