This bar is owned by a Japanese guy and they have good selection of cocktails. We initially came for draught beer and it was good too.
We did not have dinner so we ordered some food - chicken wings and pad thai. The chicken wings was disappointing because there's only 5 small pieces swimming in sauce, the sauce was good but could use a bit more chicken for the price. The pad thai was delicious though but serving size was small.
Come for drinks, be sure to have dinner somewhere else.

Review is for the Laodi bar next to the
Mekong as we drank there twice but didn’t have a chance to visit the distillery this visit.
Laodi is a really fun bar and something very unique in Vientiane as far as I discovered.
The drinks were delicious - made with locally produced rhum/rum, the service was very friendly, and the views of the sunset over the river were beautiful. Also, the music was excellent! A lovely lovely vibe.

We had a nice tour around the distillery. Three Japanese interns guided us around and showed us the facilities while explaining the distilling process. The guides were very nice, friendly and funny. At the end, we tasted their selection of rum and liquors, which were great. We even took a few bottles home with us.
We contacted Laodi via messenger, which was an easy process considering we booked the (free) tour on a Sunday for a Monday tour. They also offer to get you a taxi for 50$ between vientiane and the distillery as it is out of town. We combined the trip with budha Park and some other wats in the area, which were also a bit out of town. The tour at the distiller took us 1 hour including tasting and selection which ones we wanted to take home.

Very good Lao rum! a nice bar along the mekong river with nice atmosphere and friendly service. Recommended!

The Laodi Rum Factory is a small intimate operation. Anna came to pick us up at our hotel and then led us on a very informative and personalized tour which included some very yummy cocktails! We were also lucky enough to meet the owner!

Utilitarian building of two storeys just beyond the Night Market on the bank of the Mekhong provides a great setting to try out this Japanese/Lao JV company's range of locally distilled rums. Unlike so many drinks of this type, Lao Di has not just gone for sucrosity and many of the liqueur strength flavoured rums like the plum or ume have real balance and depth. At around 23%, these are sociable drinks to share with friends. There are also stronger, full-on white and dark rums which are equally delicious. Charming and helpful staff are on hand to guide you through the complexities of the drinks menu. I like the informal roadside setting and think the drinks themselves are great value for money. Off sales also available.

We had a remarkable tour of the Laodi Distillery hosted by a wonderful on site guide by the name of Anna. Her english was terrific and her knowledge of the distillery was outstanding. She took us through each stage of the rum making process. Also introduced us to the Master Distiller who was from Japan. Btw the owner is from Japan as well. They are very generous with their tastings. Very much worth the time to visit. Last did I tell you the ru is outstanding!!!!

I must confess, we went into this with relatively low expectations, but we were so pleasantly surprised! Because it’s not so well known and a bit out of town we had the tour all to ourselves and our guide was fantastic. She spoke great English, took us around the distillery and the sugarcane plantation, explained each stage, let us try chewing on some raw sugarcane and then gave us a mojito making class and let us generously try EVERYTHING (like 8 different rums). If I didn’t have to drive back I would be drunk, and it’s all free! I mean, they do kinda expect you to buy some rum afterwards which is totally fair, but it tastes so fantastic and is so cheap anyway that you won’t have too many doubts there. We bought three bottles (including a Japanese plum infused rum which is amazing). I’m just sad that more people don’t know about it.

Since there doesn't seem to be a separate listing for it on TripAdvisor, I thought I'd use the distillery's own page to review the bar. (I'd been hoping to pay a visit to the distillery itself but didn't have time, unfortunately.)
This rather incongruous shipping container-like construction in front of an abandoned building on the Mekhong waterfront is a showcase for the products of Lao's only homegrown, albeit Japanese co-owned, rum distillery. We tried a number of their cocktails - I particularly enjoyed the Sexy Blue - but the place was lacking a little in atmosphere (not helped by the rowdy, drunken expats). The prices though were great: five cocktails in total for 155,000 kip or just €16.
